Favorite Places & Gardens 2012, Pt. 2

I hope everyone is having a good week. We are having our January thaw now with some milder temperatures and sunshine.
It will likely all be down hill from there. LOL!

To continue the tour of my favorite “Places and Gardens” of 2012:

We visited the Edith J. Carrier Arboretum and Gardens on the James Madison University campus in Harrisonburg,Virginia the first of June. After a hard rain the night before the pond was muddy but the gardens were just beautiful.

Then we went on to the Lewis Ginter Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Richmond, Virginia.

Lewis_Ginter_Conservatory2I fell in love with this place as soon as we entered through the gates. If you ever get a chance to see it I recommend it. The gardens are extensive and beautiful.

Since there was so much visiting during 2012 I am going to have to make this into three parts. There was just too much I loved about these two wonderful gardens not to show a bunch of pictures of them.

Everyone have a great week and….

Happy Gardening,

Lona

  2. Exactly what I needed, Lona!

The roses are inspiring me to pick up a paintbrush and try my hand at some pink ones.

And that faux-painted cottage door! How cute would that be instead of the Plain Jane that I have into my garage right now--suppose I can talk my sweetie into letting me give it a whirl?

Lovely shots, and happy gardening to you also.

  4. Beautiful gardens. I've been to Richmond once - to a NASCAR Race! I managed to get my husband to tour some of the historical sites but we didn't get to any gardens. Guess I'll have to go back.

  5. Think I could spend days in either place. The JMU Arboretum is one of my favorite places, fond memories of my kids going there.
Ginter Gardens is huge and always something to see.

  12. Wow, such lovely places! I can't decide whether seeing them was helpful to relieve the winter blahs, or if it made me long for spring that much more.
