Here are some more pictures of our visit to Dawes Arboretum this Spring. These are from the Japanese Garden there.
When we saw this we wondered how many children may have ran through it to leave their footprints. LOL!
The lake in the Japanese Garden was just so beautiful. We could see very large Koi swimming all around in the lake.
The paths around the lake were beautiful with Azalea’s and other flowering shrubs lining them. We saw many locals who were using the many paths at the arboretum for their daily walks. If I lived nearby I would be among them. It was such a tranquil place to walk and I can imagine there would be something new to look at every day whether from the many plantings or from the many animals and birds who called it home. I noticed they did have a lot of fencing around some of the smaller trees to keep the deer away from them.
I think these were Duetzia shrubs although I could not find a tag for them. I am certain some of you wonderful gardeners will correct me if I am wrong on this one. They were filled with small white blooms.
Kerria japonica variegata white edge.
We both loved this Osakazuki Japanese Maple. There was a slight edging of the leaves with red and the seed pods were red.

This is a beautiful place. I am not a fan of Japanese type gardens, but this one is so soft and whispy. Maybe I was wrong thinking the plantings were so structured like Bonsai.

The Japanese garden looks so quiet and peaceful. I could see that it looks like a wonderful place to wander. Your mysterty shrub looks like my Deutzia...pearls something or other. V
It would be an absolute pleasure to wander around these gardens and I imagine a very peaceful experience as well. Wonderful views, especially around the lake area. Lol, I wonder who gets the job of raking that sandpit every day!
Thank you for sharing such a beautiful garden. I would also love one of those gates. Our long range forecast for the summer is hot and dry. It will be quite the change from spring, where we have had cool and wet.

I just love Japanese Gardens, one of my very favorite kinds. They are always so peaceful and relaxing feeling. The plantings there are so pretty!

Yes, that is a beautiful place! I thought the sand or whatever that is, was water when I saw the first photo of it.
You mentioned wanting some white milkweed seeds. This kind was swamp milkweed. Some swamp milkweeds are pink, too.
You also wondered how I keep track of all of my plants. I had to laugh, because I think I am the queen of forgetfulness. Some days I can remember the name of a plant I am looking at, and other days, not.

What a lovely garden. I envy the 64 degrees days right now, ours is nearing 100 and very very humid. My garden needs tending, but too hot!!

Very beautiful garden. That's deutzia. A garden near us, not Japanese, has a courtyard with gravel raked in a circle. It's funny, but even the children don't walk on it.

Lona girl just looking at these pictures is relaxing ! I love Zen garden themes and if we ever won the lottery (daydream time is nice eh ?) I would have different themed gardens(and a team to do the hard work of course .. while I flitter around in finer pajamas) I would have many different garden 'rooms!!

Dawes is a special place. Been busy in the garden when it isn't raining LOl.. Benn doing almost to much running around this year.. Keep your thumb green...
