Not All of the Color is Gone

Well I am excited anyway.
At this time of the year any color will do even if it is a little late in coming to fruition.

Amaryllis_Buds
I have watched and watched these buds. What do they say about a watched pot? It seemed like it took forever for them to start opening up.

Amaryllis_Firecracker
Finally the two Firecracker amaryllis bloomed out.

Amaryllis_Firecracker2

Alfresco in the middle is lagging behind but it will be welcome when it finally opens too.

Amaryllis_Firecracker3
I love the bright red blooms with the deeper red throats.

Amaryllis_Firecracker5

I am loving this splash of red after the Christmas decorations have been taken down.

Amaryllis_Firecracker4

Christmas decorations have been replaced in the living room with some touches of winter.

Dried alliums' have been spray painted blue and white for a winter bouquet. I am going to save them again this year and paint some red for Christmas bouquets after seeing Eileen’s over at “Gatsby's Gardens” this year. Hers were so beautiful.
Eileen I am going to copy off of you girl. LOL!

And the little gourd snowman stays out until spring.

Winter_Welcome
The front porch is dressed up to welcome winter with snowmen, icicles, lights and spray painted white twigs along with a winter star to show the way.

Winter_White
The Christmas decorations have been replaced on the sled to skates and the “Let it Snow” sign. One bad winter someone (Postal or UPS) turned the sign over. LOL!

They have winter storm warnings out for the next two days so we are going to get a long delayed taste of winter, but with another warm up next week. I will enjoy the snow knowing it will not last too long.

Everyone stay safe and…
Happy Gardening,
Lona

Piękny jest Twój czerwony amarylis. Mój dopiero pierwszego liska wypuszcza.Podoba mi się bukiet zimowy w domu -śliczny. Pozdrawiam.

Beautiful is your red amaryllis. My only the first fox releases. I like a bouquet of winter in the house-lovely. Yours.

We are in the middle of a snow storm right now, very icy not the light fluffy snow. Your blue and white alliums really pop. If you do red, pick a bright red, mine was a little burgundy looking and didn't show up as much as I would have liked.

Your amaryllis is gorgeous so perfect. I like your idea of doing them in a long container for impact.

Your Amaryllis is just beautiful! Love those dried Allium heads too. Your touches of winter out on the porch are just gorgeous. Had a little chuckle about the turned-around sled!!! Someone really didn't appreciate your sign.

Lovely post. Amaryllis are my favorite indoor bulbs. Mine is still just a bud. It was a gift so I'm not sure which color it will become, but there are two huge buds on a very large bulb. Amaryllis bulbs from years gone by are in the livin groom, but nothing so far. I also winter the three or four Clivia bulbs for next June. The Yellow one sometimes blooms while indoors. We'll see, in the meanwhile I'll enjoy yours. Cheers from the Jarvis House.

We have winter warnings too. After it being in the forties, I am not sure what to expect. I spent the last week removing Christmas and all that was left today was the door wreath. Your decorations are so pretty, it is sad to take them down, but it is nice you turned them into a wintertime display.

Great Amaryllis!! I also really like the idea of spray painting the dried Allium seedheads. The blue and white are great together.

I'm so glad your bulbs finally bloomed. They are lovely flowers. Love your gourd snowman. That is way too cute and I like the sleds all done out.

You are all fixed up for winter...I love your winter look. The decorations are so pretty and I love how you did your porch. I have one amaryllis and like you, I've been waiting and waiting for it to open. I had the pot outside with about twelve or more bulbs in it and didn't even expect a flower. I can't wait to see it! Yours are beautiful. I love the firecracker variety and will look for it!

Thanks for the tip Eileen. I just loved your red ones at Christmas time.

Thanks Zoey. I hope you are not getting too much snow out your way.

I think they really hated that sign Bernie. LOL! We had had so much snow that year and they have to drive in the stuff. LOL!

Thanks Darla. Have a wonderful weekend my friend.

My held over Amaryllis bulbs are not blooming and it gives me fits but I will get them figured out one way or another. LOL! Thanks for dropping by.

We only got two inches but the wind is whipping it around like we had six inches. The wind chill was minus one so it is really cold out there. I hope you did not get too much.

Thanks Janet. Have a wonderful weekend!

My daughter got the little gourd snowman for me from the Bob Evans Festival at Rio Grande a couple of years back. I just love the little fella. LOL! Are you snowed in?

You decorate your porch so beautifully which makes it so inviting and lovely. All that color is refreshing during winter.

I love your header, so cheery and warm...I don't know that I could ever put a sign up that says welcome winter, but your front porch vignette is gorgeous.
We had snow, yesterday, I wonder, did it reach you?
Stay warm!

Lona girl what can I say ?
My jaw drops and I gasp every time I come over here and see how gorgeous your crafts are and your blog looks so bright and cheery !
If I have enough allium heads in good shape I want to try that too .. even some of the astilbe heads would be pretty I think ?
I might even try for those beautiful forced bulbs again .. it has been a few years since my last disaster so I might sneak one in for next year ? LOL
Just plain GORGEOUS here girl !!

Everything about your home looks so welcoming! I love the idea of the spray-painted alliums; I may try that this year. The amaryllis are beautiful; I've been watching my pot, too, but it seems to be putting out taller and taller leaves without a hint of bloom. I'm hoping the paperwhites do better.

Don't leave that "let it snow" sign up too long:)

SageButterfly: I find that if I decorate for winter it is not such a big let down after Christmas. Have a wonderful weekend.

Lona said...

Thanks Sissy. Yes we got about two inches with another inch over night. Enough for me. LOL!

Lona said...

Now that is a great idea Joy. Painted Astilbe heads would be so pretty too. Your ice was pretty but the electric would be off here if we had that much. LOL!

Hi Rose. I know your pain. My amaryllis are all leaves again too. I love Paperwhites but their strong fragrance overwhelms me if they are in the house. They are so gorgeous though ;(
