The Central Ohio Home and Garden Show starts tomorrow Saturday February 25th and runs to Sunday March 4th.
This years theme is Happy Birthday Columbus celebrating the bicentennial of our state capital.
I always look forward to the Home and Garden show each year because by February we are always ready to see some color and flowers of which I am hoping there will be an abundant supply of this year.
Even though this has been a mild winter here in Ohio it still seems like a long winter. The weather just teased us all enough this winter with warmer temperatures but with lots of rain where you could not get out to do much with so much water in the soil or an umbrella in hand. We have been lucky so far with only about nine inches of snow all totaled for this winter.
We are ready to see tulips, hyacinths, daffodils and primroses.
Although they are all coming up in the garden it will be a few weeks before there are actual blooms.
It will also be wonderful to see some flowering trees and bushes at the show such as one of my favorites…Rhododendron’s.
There are always showings of cyclamens and begonias mixed in at every show I have attended which I love to see because they just do not do well for me, so I gaze longingly at them.
There are always the surprises that you can find at the shows and that is what I want to see this year. With the theme of the bicentennial my imagination is running wild and I am hoping for more flowers and less hardscape but that well likely not be the case since hardscaping is where the money is for the nurseries these days.
Candice Olsen will be there Saturday March 3 at 1 p.m. for all of you who follow her shows Candice Tells All and Devine Design on HGTV.
New this year is the main entertainment stage shows that will be held in the Bricker Building. A schedule for the shows are on the
Columbus Dispatch Event website.
My daughter and I are going to attend the show on Tuesday February 28th so if any of you are planning to be there Tuesday maybe we will finally get to meet.
Everyone enjoy the show and
Happy Gardening,
Lona

Have a great time Lona and bring back to us what you see. Candice Olsen is a wonderful designer. All 6ft of her. I am looking forward to Canada Blooms which starts in March. V
Oh what a delightful day you are going to have.
I have to tell you, I just LOVE your header picture. It makes me feel so happy.
Have a great weekend ~ FlowerLady
I've always wanted to get to the home and garden show in Columbus, but there never seems to be enough time or good weather in February.
I look forward to hearing about your trip and viewing the great shots I'll know you'll capture.
Looking forward to seeing your wonderful photos of this year's show! Garden shows with all their beautiful displays are so much fun. I know you'll have a great time!
Such a wonderful time of the year with all of the gardening shows are being held.I love looking at all of them through pictures. Get bunches of them.
Thank you so much. I needed something cheery for everyone to look at this winter. LOL! It will be a fun day regardless but add flowers and it will be a great day.
I will try to get lots of pictures. Maybe I should take two cameras. LOL!
Sounds like fun!
I wish I could attend some of these garden shows.
Please take a lot of pics to share with us.
I whole-heartedly agree...by the time February rolls around, we are all so itchy to do ANYTHING garden-related...and going to garden shows like that are exactly what we need!
Have fun. Hope the weather is good for you.

I looooove Candice!!! For the past 4 years I have been reading your posts about the garden show, and ONEDAY I am going to go!!!! It looks amazing...and if I had to guess it is porbably much better in person!
Have fun at the show. I like Candace Olson, she does realistic makeovers, unlike many of the other designers. I have some cyclamen in my garden. The bulb lady I bought them from told me to plant them next to an oak. They need to be semi-dry and the shade of the oak will be enough shade for them. (full disclosure-- think I planted 4 or 5 and can only find 3!)
The Rhodies are lovely. Wish I could grow them here. Have fun at the show. Love Candice's show on HGTV.
Oh, I wish I could go. I'm getting very tired of DRAB!
Those Cyclamens look lovely, almost exotic. I've been tempted to try them but was worried how they would do.
Have a great time on Tuesday.
I always come back home with all of these new ideas in my head afterwards.LOL!
I will try to get loads of pictures Zoey. Have a wonderful weekend!
I am looking forward to it Scott. Have a wonderful weekend.
I think it is going to be nice that day Cher so it will be a good day to get out.
These designers have to stick together. LOL! Happy hog hunting April!
I have two in my shade garden Janet but they are not doing well. I think they need moved to softer soil.
They were showing some of the show on television this morning. I tried not to watch so I would not be surprised on Tuesday. LOL!
Thanks Pearl. I am ready to go already. LOL!
What a cheerful and colourful post Lona, enjoy the show. I could wait no longer, just potted up our Begonias, must remember to switch on the heater.
Sounds like a good show - lots of lovely displays and ideas to garner. Sorry I haven't commented much lately I seem to be getting rather behind.
Things in my garden are waking up even the roses.
All of your photo's are lovely.
Seems like a lot of large cities are having Flower and Garden shows about now. The Philadelphia Flower Show is coming up the first week of March. When our son lived up in NJ, we visited him and we had to go on a Saturday because of him working during the week. Took the train into the city and it was so packed that you couldn't get near the exhibits and you were wearing winter coats and no room to move to take them off. All that body heat in there, you felt like you were going to pass out. It is a beautiful show also..The only way I'd go again is go during the week days and take a tour bus up there and let them do the driving for us. Our Garden Club President is organizing bus trip two days from this area.
I wish we had something as nice and as big as your show.. have fun. hugs, Cherry
I'm always so excited to go, but I haven't planned out when, can you believe it? I'm going to try to drag hubby over there tomorrow, we'll see. I'm sure loving the early flower arrival, I hope it continues. It will be garden season before long!
I love Begonia's Alistair. I have no luck with. I drown the poor things I think.
Think nothing of it Elaine because I have been running behind visiting also. Life gets that way sometimes.
Oh I bet they are Patsy. Your garden always start blooming before ours. We all get to share more flowers that way. LOL!
That is why my daughter and I are going through the week this year. Gets so crowded that no one can see anything. Glad you stopped by Betty.
Cherry I would trade the Garden Show for all of those beautiful homes and gardens in your area. I would love to visit the area one day and take in the mansions and gardens.
I can not get over how many flowers are blooming in your garden already Robin compared to mine. I hope you get to go to the Garden Show and that it is a good one this year.
Just wanted you to know how much fun we had and we were able to talk to lots of interesting people through out the day. Lots of ideas at our fingertips just waiting to get out in the yard. So wishing we could be there to see Candice, she is one of our favorites. Have a great time and I can hardly wait to see your pics. Thank you again. Maybe some day we will pass in the hallway and get to meet face to face.
I love home and garden shows like this. So much beauty and anticipation......
I am so glad to hear that you had a good time. I am excited about going tomorrow!
I am excited to be going tomorrow Chris. Have a wonderful week!
