It has been a beautiful warm, almost summer like, week here in the hills. With a few showers and the warm temperatures it was just not only the grass that was growing but the flowers are keeping up their fast pace of growth this week.
It was cloudy this morning as I walked around checking the flowerbeds so the pictures are a little dark.
One little surprise was that after the cool spell and back again into the heat the Jane Magnolia decided to put out two more blooms.
Another surprise here. I definitely do not think this is the Bicolor Monkshood root that I ordered and planted. Do you?
I have got many flowers that were the wrong color before but this one???? Sure looks like a Hosta to me. Poor thing will not even have a name now because I do not have a clue as to which hosta it may be. Maybe Jim the ‘Hosta King’ can help me identify it when it gets bigger.
A few of the Irises starting blooming this week like this “Jamaican Dream’ with its yellow petals and deep burgundy edged falls.
These Old Fashioned lavender irises were here when we bought the house many years ago and have been divided and moved many times over the years.
“Corn Harvest” is all yellow including its beards. It is a reblooming iris so it will give me some more yellow blooms in late summer or early fall. With the crazy weather it is hard to tell when it will bloom again or if it will at all. LOL!
The Alliums are also blooming now and this “Persian Blue” is lovely but not at all blue like those deceiving pictures that sells them portrays them to be.

The Weigela bush ‘Wine and Roses’ is in its second year in the flowerbed and although it is small yet it looks lovely with its dark foliage and deep rose blooms. ’Brilliant’ Dianthus is in bloom in front of it.
The little Heuchera ‘Georgia Peach’ is budding. The worm is guarding it from the many ear wick bugs I have spotted. LOL!
The new Aruncus Goat’s Beard that was planted this spring is blooming in the Shade Garden.
And the ‘Rozanne’ Geraniums are just starting to bloom.
The ‘Morden Blush’ shrub rose buds are opening now and looking lovely.
‘Sunny’ knockout rose is just flat out gorgeous and will give us blooms all summer into fall.
And the ‘Gertrude Jekyll’ rose has something trying to hide in its bloom.
The ‘Keys of Heaven’ valerian is growing down by the garden shed.
I got some more seeds sowed this week in the trial bed and some dahlias bulbs potted up.
Also in the planting department a ‘ Nelly Moser’ clematis vine, a ‘Banana Cream’ daisy, and two more white astilbes were planted.

Don't ya hate it when your order is not what it is supposed to be. Pretty alliums and love your roses. Jamaican Dream is gorgeous. I love anything that is repeat bloomers.

Love your Irises but all of your flowers looks so healthy.
My yellow knock-out rose all most died but it is coming back.I just love this time of the year with the new first blooms.

That definitely is a hosta, not monkshood! How could they mess up that bad? It is pretty though. I love hostas!
Lona, everything is so gorgeous! It will be weeks before we have roses blooming, although the iris are budded and oour yellow magnolias are still blooming. I love your Jane.... such a gorgeous color! Your photography is amazing!
Yes, your 'mistery' plant is definately Hosta. If you have bought new plants in a nursery try to see what kind of Hostas they got. Maybe you find out which one it is.
It all looks good Lona...It is so hot and dry here and so early in the season for these conditions...
You've got roses? And flowers...sigh...I know that they will pop up here, but still, it's so good to see something blooming even if it is on my computer.

Wow, your roses are blooming. Mine have a way to go still but I have two buds that have opened on Rainbow Knockout. I love the iris and don't have any at this house. Your blue hosta looks like Halcyon but there are so many blues that they all start to look alike to me.

Beautiful Lona. Yes that is definitely a Hosta. :) It is familiar to me but the name is not coming to me so hopefully someone else is better at it. Really is sad the way nurseries do that mixing up.
