The hills have been covered with misty fog in the mornings and when the sun burns it off the days return to hot, hot again. The heat will leave with the rains this weekend.
As I walk around the garden now it is getting harder and harder to find any new blooms and most of the summer plants have finished their blooming early this year.
‘Queen Anne’s’ Japanese Anemones Have smaller blooms this year but without their foliage which was eaten by the Blister Beetles they do not make a pretty picture from a distance.
Japanese Anemone ‘Honorine Jobert’ is starting to bloom and thankfully I got to the Beetles before all her leaves were shredded.
Melody Perfume
The recent rains brought some of the roses in the Rose Garden back to life and they are putting on some of their last blooms of summer.
‘Easy Does It’ looks pretty through the mist of the morning.
The white ‘Iceberg’ rose is drooping from the misty fog and is a little tattered this morning.
Even my pelargonium ‘Salmon’ geraniums are not doing well this summer. In fact I usually have good luck every year when seeding geraniums but this year even they were not growing like previous years.
The ‘Rembrandt’ dahlia is still putting on blooms.
And so are the seeded Redskin dahlias.
But the two new dahlia bulbs I planted this summer still are not blooming. What is up with that?
Out under the big Oak tree on a trellis the Sweet Autumn Clematis is blooming away with its tiny start shaped blooms.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
Happy Gardening,
Lona

Beautiful! I love the flowers of fall blooming Anemones. Blister beetles? I don't think I've had to deal with those yet. Sheesh, it's always something isn't it?
Oh my gosh, your photography is wonderful and to think these are all your blooms. You are blessed.
Have a great weekend ~ FlowerLady
lovely I have fibro too
Beautiful blooms in your garden, Lona, even in September!
You are teasing me again with your wonderful Japanese anemone! I had no luck with you seeds and with rhizomes from Bulb Co. Well, I guess I need to go to my neighbors and ask them to dig out one of their mature plants!
Tell me please if the J. anemone' stems have any thorns? Something grows in that part of the garden, but leaves look different and the stems are prickly. Thank you, Lona!
Do your anemones spread all over the place? I've pulled mine up because they took over and I don't have the room for them to do that. They've always been one of my favorite September flowers.
Lovely blooms. I don't know why I don't have any Japanese anemones in my garden....what sweet blooms.
Happy weekend!!
Your gardens sound like mine and as well they would with us being so close. You can at least count on those lovely Roses though, they look great.

You have such beautiful blooms and pictures! Have a nice Saturday!
Lona, despite of heat, you have many blooming. I love these anemones 'Easy does it', very pretty color!
You've still got so many lovely things in your garden. The Anemone flowers are so pretty, even if the plant itself is a little bare without the foliage. The Roses are beautiful. 'Easy Does It' is certainly very easy on the eyes, but of course it's 'Iceberg' that I love. Love the colour of that Pellie too.
I went on a garden tour after dinner, and there wasn't much new to see. So many of the flowers have faded away. I planted a few dahlias, but only one has bloomed. One only came up a few inches, and there it sits still, not moving. Isn't that weird? I seeded some dahlias too, and the foliage look perfect, but no flowers yet. My rain gauge tells me that we got an 1 1/2 inches of rain in the last week, isn't it wonderful?
Hi Lona, Wow your garden is still looking beautiful. My sedums are just coming into flower, the roses gave up long ago. But the zinnias are still going strong. Sorry it has been so long since my last visit, I tend to bite off more then I can handle sometimes. Hope you are enjoying the weekend and take care. Jen
such beautiful blooms. Especially those enchanting Anemones....
Hi Lona, you have such beautiful flowers in your garden, with or without leaves. Have a nice day.
Hi Lona, You may not have a huge amount of flowers but what you have are wonderful. I love 'Melody Perfume.'
Lona girl I have been sick so visiting has fallen behind here .. you always have such beautiful shots of your flowers .. my anemones are a bit smaller too for some reason .. stress from this past summer's drought ? but I watered the little suckers .. my roses are all acting weird .. Zephirine D has put on a load of foliage and finally filling in the deck rails .. others look like they are on their last legs ! BIG sigh
Lets hope next year is far kinder to us ? LOL

Lovely pictures. I am enjoying my roses and Japanese anemones too right now. I have no luck with dahlias, yours is beautiful.
Nothing seems to bother that Sweet Autumn Clematis. It kind of overtakes my pergola each year but it is a welcome sight. Your roses still look great, mine are still struggling after the Japanese Beetles.

Love your anemones Lona. Mine are still not ready to bloom yet. :(
We have a chance for rain tomorrow ~ crossing my fingers it happens...
Love the Japanese Anemone, I bought one finally last year, moved it and almost lost it - still waiting for blooms. As always your rose are amazing, I am so jealous.
I've been thinking about planting an Autumn Clematis, it is quite pretty.
