Well Indian Summer was so beautiful while it lasted. Then comes Hurricane Sandy and changes everything.

Some of the last roses bloomed last week when it was 83 degrees.

All of the rest of the roses had been trimmed down but I hated to trim these when they still had a few little blooms left on them.

The knockout roses always just keep putting out the blooms.
To think that last week I was cooking outdoor and enjoying the raking and garden cleanup.
And then this morning the electricity goes out from the storm winds and rain from Hurricane Sandy.
Our first snowfall on October 30th.
And then to be greeted by snow blowing sideways this morning when I went to take Aspen out for his walk.
Although I was getting prepared last week for winter to come to the garden it was still a shock to be greeted by an inch and a half of snow this morning.
I am thankful that that is all we are getting here which is suppose to turn back to rain later today. So many near us and along the eastern shores are suffering so much. Stay safe my eastern garden buddies until this storm goes by!

Oh, from 83 to snow!? Yuck. We haven't had any snow yet, but I'm not pining for it, either. It's cold here today, with a howling wind, but no precipitation. I love that Sunny Knockout, don't think I've seen that one before.
Hold on to your hat, Lona, and maybe we'll still get a little warm weather before winter really sets in.
Oh it's so hard to believe isn't is...our two snows were just fluff on the windshields...let's hope that yours do not stay.

I felt the same way when I returned from sunny New Mexico last week. A drift of snow greeted me and I was so sad! Your roses are lovely. Stay warm, my friend.

Oh, Lona! your garden was blooming yesterday and today is covered by snow! I've been watching the CNN news about hurricane, terrible! I'm glad your house and garden didn't suffered and are safe!

I heard on the news about Springfield getting the snow, but didn't realize you did down South. I noticed a few drizzles of snow but nothing stuck anywhere. My little niche here in this corner for some reason we just don't get the snow and rain that most do but I can say, blooms are finally history this year except for the Mums.

Ours can't be too far off then and I am still waiting for 3 rose climbers to come so I can plant them .. now how silly is that ? haha
Maybe a big Halloween trick ? LOL
