I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.
We have had some very cold mornings here and freeze warnings are posted for tonight.
I moved in a few of the flowers to over winter in the house but I do not think I will keep as many this winter as I did last year.
A couple of Geraniums, Mandeville, A Begonia and a couple of Christmas Cacti. A few more Geraniums will be put into the basement to dry out until next spring.
I also brought in this yellow Gerbera Daisy but I have no hopes of it making it through the winter indoors since I have tried them to previous years.
Everyone have a wonderful week and enjoy those autumn colors while they last. Peak season will be this week here in the hills.

Very pretty Lona. A nice last hurrah of wonderful blooms for you. It was cold last night here and the furnace has been running today most of the time. I did get the yard mowed though and was thinking I probably (hopefully) only have a couple more times of mowing.

I was just thinking today that I needed to bring the plants in soon. I'll miss my garden but my sewing machine will get a good workout.

Isn't it amazing that some of our stressed plants are now putting out just a few more blooms. That rose colored hydrangea. I hope we don't have to give up hyddrangeas because of the heat.

Lona, we are growing dahlia's for the first time this year. Do we dig them up and re plant in spring?
Brought a few plants to overwinter in also and propagated a few...I will be ready next year for a busy spring/summer since I was layed up this year...I ant wait!
You have some lovely blooms there still. Hope you get to enjoy them for a while longer in the garden or in the house.

I have wintered a Gerbera Daisy in my garage (unheated) the last three winters. I might water it once or twice a month. It has come back very well. I just pull off the dead foliage in the spring.
It is tough to say goodbye to those pretty blooms. Love the red flowerheads on the hydrangeas, very pretty.
It's sad when the garden goes to sleep, but it's also a more peaceful, relaxing time too. Time to mull over what worked, and what didn't work, and plan for next year. Your flowers and photos are just as beautiful as ever! I'm sure it's gorgeous over there in your hills about now. Summer may be my favorite, but I sure do love fall too.

The cooling weather has done wonders for my garden and it looks like yours is still doing well too. I love the Josephine clematis flower and the hydrangeas. Have tried growing hydrangeas but they never survive more than 4 months in my garden.

Lona, I know what you mean regarding the amount of plants which need taking indoors. I find placing them in the unheated greenhouse gives enough protection. This year I saw a Gerbera in the garden centre as being a fully hardy type, I have my doubts though. Still fabulous colour you have to show of your garden plants.
Just catching up with some of your lovely October blooms. I've been away from the blogging world for a little while now and have missed many wonderful posts. It's great to see those Autumn hues on your Alpen Hydrangea, and how lovely to spot that lone Clematis bloom.
