I hope everyone is having a wonderful week. We have had some very cold mornings here in the hills but the sunshine has been delightful and I was able to enjoy a long walk at Old Mans Cave Park this week with little Aspen leading the way.
Today I want to introduce you to one of the new roses that was blooming in my Rose Garden this summer….
Midnight Blue is a shrub rose that has a spicy clove fragrance.
It blooms repeatedly throughout the summer on new growth.
It reaches from 24 to 36 inches in height and makes is a wonderful rose for small spaces or a container.
This rose can also be trained into a standard tree form.
The dark mauve shaded double cupped blooms are beautiful with the showy yellow stamens.
This rose has done very well in my rose garden and is resistant to mildew, rust and black spot. which is wonderful because of this humid Ohio weather that can cause problems with other plants.
It is good in zones 6a through 10b.
The blooms on mine this year tended to fade a little in our very hot and dry summer we had this year but it was still beautiful and smelled delightful.
Everyone have a wonderful week and…..
Happy Gardening,
Lona

You have such a sweet little dog. That's a beautiful rose. We've got a lot of snow here in Finland today.
I really like the color of that Rose. Looks like you have a new puppy, congratulations!

How pretty! I love how it's lighter in the middle. Very dramatic. Aspen is adorable, too!
Beautiful Lona!
Oh my Aspen is cute!!!
That is a beautiful rose. Sounds like it did well for you.
Lona, wonderful rose, I love its full opened buds. Pity that it doesn't grow in my 5 zone.
Who is that adorable canine in the first picture! How sweet, sweet, sweet.
That rose is beautiful and one I wouldn't mind having in my gardens.
I've not noticed any ads being tagged to your posts. I wouldn't like it either.

Oh I love that adorable little face!
Midnight blue, a beautiful rose. I wonder if we can buy this one over here and if she is Hardy enough. I shall find out.
Your Aspen is a cute little dog!
Aspen is an adorable walking companion. Lovely rose, beautiful colors.
Hi Lona Girl, Well, if this sweet rose looks THIS good after a summer like last year, it is a winner for sure. The blossoms are just outstanding. I love it.
And then there's your little walking buddy. What a sweetie pie.
Those are wonderful looking roses, and I was all set to go and search them out, but unfortunatly they won't survive in our climate...Darn.

Roses with a clove scent are the best! Love a good fragrance from a rose. Yours is a great hearty deep red, just lovely.
Great color on your new rose Lona. There will never be enough room in my garden for all the roses I would like to have!!!! Enjoy this beauty.
Your little Aspen is adorable!
