Okay I give. I am finished trying.
If you knew me you would realize how hard that is for me to do when it comes to gardening and flowers.
But after three years of trying every trick and idea to get these Amaryllis bulbs to bloom again….
and still ending up with just leaves and no blooms I have totally given up on my Amaryllis bulbs ever blooming again. (for me)
I was certain they would bloom for me this winter after leaving them out in the sunshine this summer, fertilizing them and babying them. But it was just not meant to be.
So anyone interested in some amaryllis bulbs??

I had the blooming amaryllis bulb, it faded, its leaves dried up and turned yellow. Then I put the pot with the bulb in a cool place. In spring I took out the bulb and planted it in a new land in a very small pot. The upper half of the bulb should be above ground. Amaryllis bloomed well.
Sometimes it works for me and sometimes not...I threw away the bulbs this year. I was tired of taking care of them. I'll just keep buying a fresh bulb every year.
It's is always tricky to get an Amaryllis in bloom for a second time. i have no tips for you and it often fails, but sometimes they flower again especially when I have neglected them.
I'm with you Lona, have no luck in saving the bulbs for future bloom. They are expensive so I have tried to keep them with just leaf growth.

they need to have sunshine and warth i the spring to bloom they sometimes will not force.....
You are such a great gardener so I almost wonder if these are just bad bulbs. I don't know since I haven't done inside plants in many years. As for the ads I don't see them Lona.

I am no expert AT ALL, but from what I read they need to rest, to go dormant. If you force it in the winter and then have it outside in the summer, then try to force it again, it hasn't had its dormant time. I have one variety that supposedly doesn't need a dormant period to bloom again. So far I have a lot of leaves and no bloom. I may take it out of the pot in the spring and store it in the fridge for a while....let it go semi-dormant and then try again.
You have more patience than I do, Lona dear. I've still got mine in a box from a birthday in November. Pathetic.
Ha! I know what you mean. I have two bulbs putting out nothing but leaves now also. Maybe someone out there knows the trick?
I've had no luck getting amaryllis to rebloom after the first year either. My MIL sits hers out all summer and then puts them in an enclosed porch where it gets chilly but sun all day. Hers are gorgeous. Mine just leaves. I keep threatening to toss the leaves but still have them. Ha!
Nothing to do with your gardening skills Lona. I think most people treat amaryllis as an annual.
Lona, you had me laughing...and I've done the same thing. It is no fun waiting for the silly things to bloom again, is it? I never bought another one, either. Seems like a waste, I know, but I just don't have the cupboard space around here for a bunch of strappy leaves.
I have to play catch up and read your older posts. Always a treat to visit you, Lona!
Oh great it's not just me that cannot rebloom these darn plants. I felt guilty all this time thinking I'm the only one....
