We have had our first frosts, a freeze, and even
a few snow flurries here in the Hocking Hills area.
But since the first of November we have been
experiencing our Indian Summer. It has
been in the 70's with gorgeous blue skies and sunshine.
Knowing it would not last I took advantage of the
mild weather to take a walk, with camera in hand
to our local "Ash Cave" which is in the Hocking Hills
State Park area and only about two and a half miles
from my home.
for a very dry walk with no water cascading over
the falls above Ash Cave and into the basin floor
and creek that runs through the park as you can see
in the picture below.
I was able to get some pictures with a little of the
touches of Fall that was still hanging on in the cave area.
Hocking Hills is a gorgeous park with giant Pine trees
and beautiful rock formations.
When you live amongst scenes such as these,
sometimes you take it all for granted.
But that day while walking through the area with
the showers of golden leaves falling around me
there was no way to ignore the serenity and the
beauty and the feeling of being glad to be alive
to enjoy it all.
Here are some more pictures of my walk through
Ash Cave State Park.

How lucky you are to have such a lovely spot hike so close to home.
Oh Lona, you know how I love the Hocking Hills! Thanks for posting those lovely photos of Ash Cave. It's the one spot we've never seen, believe it or not. I'll have to remedy that soon. What's a good spot to see the winter look, without slipping and sliding? I'd love to see the icy looks, but I'm a little fearful of the slipperiness.
Robin, Ash Cave is a wonderful place for those Winter shots. The paths are very good and there is no climbing to get to the entrance of the cave.Pictures from on top of the cave have steps and a path but care should be taken when icy.I have to go back this Winter when the snow falls. It will be beautiful.
You have some beautiful shots of Ash Cave and the Park. I like the rock layers around the entrance, and the Autumn woods of the area are pretty. It looks like a quiet place.
Those are lovely photos. Thanks for taking us on your walk. Yes we must enjoy these fleeting days of Indian summer. For all too soon the snow will be here :)
Beautiful shots, I especially love the large slideshow at the end of the post.
It looks like a lovely place to take a nice contemplative walk, and get great photos.

What a lovely place....thanks for sharing.
You are so lucky to be near a state park. You can kind of walk on the wild side.

Beautiful photos of your neck of the woods Lona. I love the caves. And your selection of the sounds of wildlife really add to the experience.
