Storm Clouds Rolling In

Wednesday evening after a beautiful day in the upper
sixties, we had a storm roll in with high winds.
So soon after our previous Ice storm it brought down
those additional trees and limbs that were damaged by
the weight of the ice.
Without electricity and phones once again I started watching
the wind blow in the storm clouds and rain. It was fascinating
watching the different cloud shapes and colors.
Some looked menacing and others like dirty cotton candy,
but all were beautiful in their own way.

Dirty brown clouds started coming in towards my home.
They looked very intimidating and foreboding.

On the other side of the hill dark skies foretold what was
in store for us, but at the same time the sun was shining
under the clouds and lighting the tops of the bare tree tops
giving a sense of hope amid the storm.

After the dirty brown clouds rolled through there came
clouds of cotton candy or cotton ball shaped clouds.

And at last they past over and blue skies lay behind
them.

Note: After posting this article I noticed it was Friday the 13th.
I am not superstitious and the storm clouds posting is not in
anyway whatsoever to do with the day or date. ; )

Lona, I love a stormy sky -- and those cotton balls! The photo in which the sun is merely kissing the tops of the trees is spectacular!

I love your pics. They really do show the contrast of the clear serenity of the sky next to the harsh undertones of a storm. Ones sense of admiration and respect are really brought to the surface when these pictures are seen.

P.S.
I hope the next time you try and force bulbs, you have greater success.

I find clouds fascinating too! You captured the moments so well. From dirty brown to all that fluff against bare branches. Beautiful!

Have a lovely weekend.

I remember sitting for hours watching clouds building up in preparation for a storm with my garndfather. I think he would have been called a storm chaser were he alive today. These are wonderful shots, especially the candy floss that preceded beautiful blue skies. There is a thrill in observing Nature that we sometimes overlook in the daily hustle and bustle...thanks for sharing

Lona,
Wednesday for us was in the upper 50s. Unbelievably wonderful. Was able to get out for a walk without layers and gloves. Buy yesterday the weather turned again and today it was back to cold, cold, cold. At least we haven't had your storms to contend with. Great sky photos.

I didn't notice the spooky clouds, but boy was that wind scary! It actually made my house moan, and I could literally feel my chair slightly moving. DH said it did that during our quick visit with Hurricane Ike, so good thing I was at work at the time then.

Don't know why, but the sky seems to always be amazing, at any season, rain or shine. Those clouds are breathtaking.
