Help, What Is It's Name?

I am sure you all can help me with this new
little gems real name. I bought it at a discount
and the fact tag just said 'Purple Heart' but I have
a feeling that it has another name of some description.
It has pretty pink, little flowers on it.
I hope it will over winter in the house. If I get a name
for her I can read up on how to take care of it.
Thanks I know you all will help me out!

We are going through a cool spell here which is really
unusual but it is giving us some little showers which we
need in our area. It has rained all around us but we
have not gotten any until this morning.
The cool down and rain is probably a good thing
because I looked at one of my flowers beds
yesterday and decided I hated it and started moving
things around. It looks a little better or maybe I just
needed a change of viewing it. Some plants that were
not doing so well in it were moved in the hopes that
they will like it better in a different location and they
got some needed compost added to their feet.

Do you ever get bored with your flower beds and
the way they look?
Oh, by the way is anyone else having trouble getting the
new postings at Blotanical? I keep getting warning
messages and no lists.

It is berry picking time! The birds are loving them too.

Happy Gardening Everyone!

UPDATE: Thanks all I knew you would know!
Secretia Purple Queen

Now to find out how to take care of it.

I call the purple stuff wondering jew! It will spread rapidly. I normally grow it in a pot.

I LOVE the tea kettle!

I believe that is also called Wandering Jew.

My Mother had a plant like that, but I do not remember its name. Love the teapot.

Last year I moved most of our flower beds. Even though my Mom was a gardener she never taught me. When we moved here I planted what I liked and anywhere I wanted to. Big mistake. Did research and moved most of them where they should have been and they are doing much better.

Thanks everyone!!! I knew you all could help. I thought it might be Wandering Jew but I thought it had some silver on the leaves, but this could be another strain of it that I was not familiar with.

Secretia purple queen looks to be it. Now if I can find out something about it.

Thanks!!!

Well they beat me to it. Yes mam I get really bored with my gardens this time of the year. I have been moving things around and trying to make 'mental' note of changes for the next season. I have made 3 blueberry cobblers and a blueberry cheesecake already from our bushes!!

It's a Tradescantia pallida-"Purple heart" plant. Have a great 4th of July!

I've only ever heard it called Purple Heart, so I googled it to get the proper name. It's too complicated, so Purple Heart it is, in my book anyway! It's funny that we both posted the same flower on the same day. I've never overwintered it, but I will certainly try this year. I can just picture my basement full of all the plants I want to "save"!

Thanks everyone for the naming of my plant.I appreciate the help so much.
It will probably end up being calling it the purple heart wandering Jew vine. ;-)
Then again if I kill it, it will be that dead plant.

Robin what are we going to do with all these plants this winter.I couldn't believe it when I went to your posting after putting mine up and we had the same flower and almost the same picture of it ;-)

Joe: I have to fight all of the critters around here to see who gets the berries first.

Orchidea: thanks so much for the help. With everyone's help I can search out the care for it. Thanks for dropping by.

Darla have fun on you and hubby's vacation get away!

SmilingSal: I hope it goes crazy while it has a chance this summer because I am not sure it will survive my house this winter. I think it so rich colored and the little pink blooms are so pretty against the purple. Thanks for dropping by.

Cathy; you have a great weekend gal and thanks for the help. I was pretty sure you would know what it was.

Hi Lona~~ I wouldn't say "bored." More like discontent. But I haven't had much of that this year. I think it's due to the fact that my garden has fallen victim to ten-plus years of discontentment stints by its owner. A few plants are getting moved--newbies that I erroneously mis-located. I'd like to do a bit of moving tomorrow but we're on the cusp of a heat wave for the next few days so if I'm wise, [I'm not] I'll wait.

I get that weird error message too. It's pretty intermittent and hasn't happened in a few weeks now. I've never seen anyone comment on it so I figured it was "just me."

I say Wandering Jew also...here is what I found about it...It makes a nice plant for a hanging container. Keep pinching it off so it branches out.

Glad you got an ID on that flower. My suggestion was going to be Wandering Jew. Like your berry photo. The berry canes around here have put out quite a bumper crop this year. We picked and picked and picked, and ended up canning 16 8-oz jars of black raspberry jam. That will be so tasty to eat in the middle of winter!

Grace: I notified Stuart and he got right back to me and fixed the problem somehow so I did not get the message.

Heather:Wow, that will taste great this winter.

Balisha: Thanks so much on the pinching back tip to make it branch more.
