Pink Poinsettia Failure

I departed from my usual red poinsettia this year
in favor of this pink one.
I love the pink color of it but must admit it does not go
with my Christmas decor and .....

certainly does not go with the red 'Ragtime' amaryllis.
It might go better with the 'Apple Blossom' one but
it is not blooming yet.

I will have to make a mental note to go back to red
for next Christmas or maybe try one of the white
ones.

On the subject of poinsettia's my experiment to get
the red poinsettia from last year to bloom was a total
failure.

Don't you feel sorry for this sad specimen. LOL!
Poor thing just keeps dropping its leaves and
I am tempted to toss it out into the snow or
drop kick it to the basement.
I hate to give up on any plant though, stubborn
as I am.
Another garden blogger took hers to the
basement in March for a month and then
brought it back out and it is blooming and turning
now. Maybe that is worth a shot. It sure cannot do
anymore harm that what I already have done to
the poor things.

To those of you who are traveling or going to be so
busy I would like to take this time to wish you
all a Blessed Christmas!

Isn't it amazing the different colors that Poinsettias come in now? I saw one last week that was blue!

We hate to say anything about any plant that might hurt its feelings, Lona, but pretty as this is, I agree that Ragtime is not its best roommate. It hurts me to admit to that too. May your holidays be the best ever!

Hey Lona, I'm also a poinsettia purist, I've tried pinks & whites but never like them as much as the reds. I get frustrated with plants that aren't doing well, it takes a lot for me to give up, but I find it depressing to have them around. I'd banish yours to the basement for awhile and see what happens. :) Rebecca

I think it is pretty even if it doesn't match anything else.
Merry Christmas to you and your family. Helen

Lona you are more courageous than I am. I gave up on poinsettias a long time ago. Who needs the saddness at this time of year? LOL

I would like to wish you a very lovely and wonderful Christmas. I hope you are surrounded by love and joy!

It's still a pretty Poinsettia. I didn't get any this year.
I hope you have a great Christmas!

I'm just impressed that you kept your old plants alive for a year! My one-month old poinsettia is dropping leaves like crazy. I moved it out of its low-light, drafty spot and hope it will hang around for Christmas. But if it dies after that, then I won't have to feel guilty about throwing it away.

Hello,
Don't give up on your poinsetta. I think it might come out of it and bloom for you.. I had one for years. After the ugly comes the pretty... At least I think the red one will. Not sure about the pink..
Thank you for visiting my blog. I have not been blogging to much. I had repair done on my other knee and setting at the computer is not comfortable yet..
Have a blessed Christmas,
Your blog Friend,
Deb

Blessed Christmas to you too Lona! But I like that pink poinsettia. Good choice anyway. I like white ones as well :-D I think poinsettia is always a challenge for anyone... that's why this year I would not be getting any he he... over here, I have never heard of anyone that has successfully kept the plant alive. Also, poinsettia price has increased this month. Hence, got a red Gloxinia instead. Enjoy your holidays and Christmas party and dinners yeah.

Hi Lona~~ Drop kick it down to the basement had me laughing. I like the pink poisettia but you're right. It doesn't really harmonize well with the scarlet amaryllis. I have similar problems outside in the garden, but not this time of year. LOL Merry Christmas!

I like your pink poinsettia Lona. I think you can mix pink and red...why not? The garden has a mixture of color!
As for doing your own poinsettia...I think it is best left to the professionals. I thought about it one year, decided against it. Too fussy.
Merry Christmas to you!

I like the pink but red does win out.

Your poinsettia does look prettier by itself. I grew some when I was in my 20s, but don't remember how well they did. It's been awhile. I hope your other one perks up.
