A Friday Morning Walk in the Garden

This morning I took a stroll around in the garden
looking to see how the flowers were fairing on another
hot summer day. Some of the pots needed watering but
since there  was some rain Wednesday the other flowers
looked  fine and I was glad that not everything
needed watering this morning.
With camera in hand, which it usually is when I go
out the door anymore, I took a few pictures of the blooms
and what was fluttering around in the garden for
‘Fertilizer Friday’ with our Tootsie.
Here are a few of the beauties that greeted me in the garden.

AlmostBlack_Rose

The ‘Almost Black’ Rose bush had a pretty bud and was
refusing to look at the dark side of the hot day to come.

Anemone_QCharlotte_Aug13
Anemone ‘Queen Charlotte’ has some more open buds but she
was thankful for the shade this morning.

BBird_Delphenium_Aug13

The ‘Blue Bird’ Delphinium that is in bloom looked frosty
in the morning light.

Gerbera_Aug13

The  yellow Gerbera Daisy sparkled in the early morning
sunshine.

Laura_Phlox_Aug13

Little ‘Laura’ phlox will wish she had this morning’s shade when
the sun gets around to her this afternoon.

Lantana_Aug13

The Lantana was glowing bright and the butterflies were
coming in for their morning feast.

MaryEveline_Dahlia_Aug13

Dahlia ‘Mary Eveline’ was dressed in diamonds after her
morning shower.

Penta_Red_Aug13

The red Penta decided to bloom this morning so it could
join into the Flaunting.

Razzamatazz_Aug13

‘Razzamatazz’ echinacea looked a little frazzled and worn.
Even the spiders had abandoned her.

RedNicotiana_Aug13

The red and white Nicotiana are still trying to get
woke up this morning.

WeigelaFlorida_Variegated_Aug13

Weigela Florida variegata is growing like a weed, but in
this case that is a good thing.

FigaroDahlia_White_Aug13

The butterflies were not the only thing that was feasting
on the Figaro white dahlia blooms.

Lantana_Butterfly
A buffet was set for those who would be passing through
and looking for a bite to eat throughout the day.

MorningHuntAug13

This bright glow looks to be prophesying the outlook for
the day ahead. Sunny, bright and very hot.

So join us today and ‘Flaunt Your Flowers’.

Everyone Have A Wonderful
Weekend!

Lona you have Razzamatazz!!! I wanted it soooooooooooo bad when I first saw it a couple of years ago but when it first came out it was really expensive and I didn't get one. They were only online and not in any stores and since I've still looked and no stores have had them. But the other day I bought Pink Poodle and it resembles Razzamatazz but fuller - at first I thought it was a Dahlia. I just love it!!!
Mary Eveline is sparkling in her 'girls best friends' isn't she?
I love your Anemone too. I bought my first package last year and planted it in the fall. When nothing started sprouting I dug into it to see why and it all rotted. When do you plant them?
Anyway all of your blooms look great and seems you had a pretty productive walk with your camera.

Lona, your plants look great. I can't say that for mine! I did not water this morning and when I came back this afternoon you would think I had not been home in days. Everything was drooping including me after I finished the watering chore.

I can't imagine how I could go away in this weather.

Lona girl you take such gorgeous pictures of the butterflies !
We share lots of plants : )
And .. I had a quick, albeit limp through the garden with one eye open .. because there is so much that needs to be done(one eye makes it half bad instead of two eyes being "OH MY GOD!!" bad ? .. but at least I could see it in person instead of view from the deck ? LOL
Have a great weekend girl : )
PS .. you keep pushing me towards the dahlia thing .. maybe next year? wink wink

I love those anemones. I bought some late last summer (after seeing yours) before I knew that I would have surgery. I was in no shape to plant things and had to depend on Joe who was not really in the mood to plant. We got them quickly into the ground and then forgot them. I found two of them peeking out from under a hosta. The hostas had already been cut down when they were planted. I moved them to the shady side yard and they are still about the same size. At least they are living...not dead. Maybe they will "come to" next year. I don't know why I love them....I guess sometimes flowers just speak to us. Balisha

Hi, Lona!
Your flowers, as always, are quite lovely. So thrilled to see we're growing a number of the same perennials. (That means I must be doing something right. :)

Your photos are gorgeous! I love Nicotiana and its aroma. Beautiful photos with the butterflies also. I was raised on a farm in Pickerington and my family is all around Hocking Hills; Lancaster, Baltimore, Dublin and on and on. Great country and I miss it. So, this made me very happy to find your great blog! Have a good weekend!

Lovely flowers! I went back to the psot with your photos of your house and was so tickled by the way you have improved the place over the years. It's beautiful now.

My August gardens are pitiful. Little is in bloom and the new kitten has done some damage in many of them as he plays and rough-houses around. I suppose I don't mind as much since this year is ny a great garden year for the flowers anyway. The vegetables have been bumper crops at least.

Lona you have so many pretties in your gardens. Stunning dahlia and so is razzamatazz echinacea. My gardens are winding down. I pulled up nearly all of my zinnias. Tired of looking at the overgrown mess. Hope you had a good weekend.

Such a variety of pretty flowers in your garden. I especially like the last image. It looks as if the butterfly is lit by the glow of the yellow flower.

Hi Lona, everything is looking lovely in your garden! Your photos are stunning. That dahlia is one sparkling diamond of a flower;-) One of these days I might join FF, I just never seem organized enough to manage it! It's usually all I can do to get 1 post up for 'Bloom Day'. I hope you are doing well...and the heat is not so bad right now. It has been a killer of a summer. Hotter and more humid than normal and not at all fun! Be well, my friend;-)

Well just knock my socks off and tickle me pink your photos and flowers are amazin'!!!

We have endured three weeks of temps 100-105 and no rain. Needless to say we are cooked to a crisp. I've watered like nobodies business but the heat stress has taken it's toll on the gardens, critters and me. Seein' your beauties have brightened my day. :o)

God bless ya and have yourself a glorious day sweetie!!!

Love the Dahlia. I always forget to plant them in the spring. Do yours over winter in zone 5 or do you dig them?

Thanks for coming by and leaving such a nice comment while I was resting my hip. Stella
