A Beautiful Weekend

Hello Everyone. I hope you all had a wonderful
weekend. It was gorgeous here until a misty rain
came in yesterday and cooled things down.
I took a walk around in the yard looking and
hoping to see some blooms in the warm sunshine.

Crimson_B4_Nov13

Just when I thought my Crimson Bouquet rose
was done blooming it surprised me with one last
bloom. Maybe it knew I was getting hungry already
for some color.

Crimson_B_Nov13

Her leaves are falling off, eaten and some black
spots on a few remaining leaves but the bloom is lovely.

FoxGlove4_Nov13

This Foxglove is still blooming for me and though
it was a surprise it is welcome.

Pansy_Rose

The Pansies in the window boxes are doing well.

I spotted my first Junco or Snow Bird Sunday and wanted
to tell it to go away that we were not getting any snow this winter but even I cannot lie to a bird. LOL! I just do not want
to face what the Junco’s arrival means.

 Scarlet_BriarLeaves
There are just a few scarlet briar leaves now
in the woods.

Scarlet2_BriarBerry

And a few berries are here and there to add color.
After the very little rain we received yesterday and the
cooler winds came blowing in  from the north, this is what
I saw this morning……

Oakleaves2

Oak leaves all over the cleaned yards and…..

collecting in the clean flower beds.
Just when I thought all of the leaves were mulched and
cleaned out of the yard and beds they came flying in
on the wind like kites.
Did I ever mention I hate Oak leaves…. LOL!
Oh well!

Everyone have a wonderful week. This looks like it
will be a busy on here with trips into town and to the
doctors.

Happy Gardening !
Lona

Your photographs are always beautiful, but I think the roses are my favorite. The red rose is Stunning! Isn't it wonderful when they surprise us with one last bloom of the season? I love that.

I know what you mean about looking that last little touch of color. It is hard for a gardener to let go, I too scout the garden for the last splash of color. We have many, many juncos hanging out at the feeders. I wonder if the predictions of a hard winter this year are correct.

Lovely blooms Lona...leaves are everywhere here more than anywhere else too....

I haven't seen any Junco’s yet. Your photos are always such a treat.

Dear Lona, What a beautiful red rose - the perfect shape and so unexpected for this late in the year. I wonder if it still retains its scent...I do hope so.

Wishing you too a happy week and I do hope that your trip to the doctors is nothing serious.

Lona, I saw my first junco last winter when it was colder and snowier then we ever get! It was so pretty against the icy snow! It may be here all winter, but I appreciated their visits to the ground beneath the feeders~gail

Hi Lona,

How wonderful to have a Foxglove blooming at this time of year!
I think last year I had a crazy Foxglove blooming now too, sadly this year I haven't been quite so lucky.

Love your roses, I have some pretty white ones still blooming too, I've no idea which type it is as we inherited it but it's had an amazing show this year and has been blooming constantly since April or May.

Your Foxglove is lovely. I remember my grandmother had some of them in her garden, always loved them.
I am leaving my leaves in the garden to break down over the winter....I think. First fall in our new place. Think leaving them is a good idea.

I hope you are feeling okay and that your doctor visit is just a check up.

It seems like as soon as I rake up all the leaves more find their way to our yard. I find leaves from trees that aren't even in ours or our neighbors yard :)

Don't you love finding roses in bloom in November!! and a foxglove that's really amazing!

Oak leaves in your part of the world ... Gum tree leaves in my corner! You're not alone in hating heavy leaf fall ... my problem is that is happens almost all year round.

Great photos, Lona. Such lovely shots of your Rose and Foxglove ... and that unwelcome but rather cute little Junco.

I go around and pick up the bags of leaves - love the oak and pecan - and mulch my flower beds with the leaves for the winter. The leaves make the healthiest beds the following spring.

I like your Crimson Bouquet rose its a beauty and I like red. I might grow foxglove next year after enjoying your pictures.

Oh that beautiful rose...We've had juncos here for a while. They are even sitting on the bird feeders.
Hope your trip to the doctors is just a checkup...Balisha

That red rose is gorgeous, but all of your photo's are.

Enjoyed your beautiful photographs! I am enamored by foxgloves. You are so lucky to be able to grow them. We see foxgloves here on occasion, grown as winter/spring annuals, but it's just not the same.

I have the same problem with those oak leaves although I love them for their burnished beauty.

Hello Lona, your roses are so beautiful, makes me miss them all the more! I think I can almost smell their fragrance from here. The scarlet briar and the junco are such pretty pictures too. I hope the winter won't be as bad as they predict. I still have half a five gallon pail of daffodils left to plant...I HAVE to get them in.

Hi Lona, The garden is looking wonderful for the middle of November, I have no flowers. Have Christmas greenery in the haning baskets with ribbon and pinecones. Hope every goes well with all the appointments this week.

I see that the autumn coolness is getting around to you too. Our juncos have been here for a while. Don't you just love the colouring of them. Looks like God just dipped them in paint. I am enjoying your flowers as we are so done here.

The rose is beautiful. We had a cold "spell" and I thought mine were finished for the year. This week I am finding more and more buds and blooms... hope the weather holds out for them. I am always captivated by the foxglove. Have never had any luck growing them. Yours is so pretty.....

So pretty! Its fun to find a surprise bloom like the foxglove in November, right? We just raked our yard 2 days ago and the leaves are already all over the place again. Ugh- it never ending. ;)

Hello Lona and happy Fall. I am always delighted by the number of blossoms that linger into winter... makes for such pleasantry. Love looking at your wooded area... such calm.

I love that foxglove. I bet mine will look like that. I have pecan tree leaves and a couple of oaks. My main droppers are the pecan trees. The price we have to pay. Busy times are upon us now with the festive season coming on. Hope you have a blessed day Lona.
