Remembering Dad

Happy Birthday Dad

Those we love remain with us for love itself live on,
And cherished memories never fade.because a loved
ones gone.
Those we love can never be more than a thought apart,
For as long as there is a memory, they’ll live within our
hearts.

Dad your life was full of loving deeds,
Forever thoughtful of our special needs.
Today and tomorrow, my whole life through,
I will always love and cherish you.

Thank You, Thank You!!

They Did Their Share cutecolorsplantbutfly2

On Veteran’s Day we honor
Soldiers who protect our nation.
For their service as our warriors,
They deserve our admiration.

Some of them were drafted;
Some were volunteers;
For some it was just yesterday;
For some it’s been many years;

In the jungle or the desert,
On land or on the sea,
They did whatever was assigned
To produce a victory.

Some came back; some didn’t.
They defended us everywhere.
Some saw combat; some rode a desk;
All of them did their share.

No matter what the duty,
For low pay and little glory,
These soldiers gave up normal lives,
For duties mundane and gory.

Let every veteran be honored;
Don’t let politics get in the way.
Without them, freedom would have died;
What they did, we can’t repay.

We owe so much to them,
Who kept us safe from terror,
So when we see a uniform,
Let’s say "thank you" to every wearer.

What a great picture of your Dad. I'm glad you have so many great memories of him, he sounds like a wonderful man.

I like the poem on the picture of the soldier. The words are very true. No one wants war, unfortunately there isn't always a way around one. I admire all the people who have served our country.

Hello Lona,

I loved this post. Dad's are such a wonderful blessing and I miss mine very much. It has been 3 1/2 years. He also served in the armed forces.

PS. I hope your Yellow Bells survive the winter - they are so beautiful in the garden :-)

Hi Lona,
That was a nice tribute to your dad and American soldiers. My father in law would have been 89 November 17. He was a veteran, too.

I love your new template! It looks like they have some new ones. I'll have to go check them out.
