Butterfly Wishes

Butterfly Wishes
Yesterday a butterfly
Came floating gently through the sky.
He soared up through the atmosphere
Then drifted close enough to hear

 Tiger_Swallowtail
I said, "I'd love to fly with you
And sail around the way you do.
It looks like it would be such fun
To fly up toward the summer sun.

BrightEyes_Swallowtail
But I have not your graceful charm.
I haven't wings, just these two arms.
I've been designed to walk around.
My human feet must touch the ground.

Monarch2_Hydrangea
Then magically he spoke to me
and told me what his wish would be.
He said, "What I'd love most to do
Is walk upon God's Earth with you,
To squish it's mud between my toes
Or touch my finger to my nose.

Floral_Wings
I'd love just once to walk around
With human feet to touch the ground,
But I have not two legs that swing,
I haven't arms, just these two wings."

Shelly_LittleWood-Satyr
And so we went our separate ways
In wonder and surprise.
For we'd both seen God's precious gifts
Through someone else's eyes.

What a pretty poem and the pictures are beautiful! I can't wait to see butterflies again. I'm buying lots of seeds that are supposed to attract them. You get such a nice variety there.

Lona, it is amazing to me that you can get those pictures! I must play around with my telephoto lens this spring and summer, so much to learn.

I don't know about you, but I am done with winter. Do you think this will work?

Beautiful poem. Your pictures are fabulous. Spring is still to far away for my liking.

Hi, Lona;
This was so pretty! Such a lovely poem. Can we bottle a potion called Graceful Charm? We'd make a fortune!

I am, as always, teasing...

Lone: Tak så meget. Jeg er så glad for at du kiggede forbi.

Darla: Thanks hon.

Frances: Thanks you. It is a touching poem.

Catherine: So many seeds and so little room. A gardeners nightmare. LOL!

Eileen: I am so over winter and I hope we get an early spring.

Jen: I know what you mean. If we could get winter to move as fast as summer seems to go speeding by.

Grace: That is my daughters finger. The butterfly was so kind to land on her finger so I could get a picture.

Karin: Thank you. I am going to come by and visit your site.

Randy: I am looking forward to those days also. Thanks for dropping by.

Kate: If only girl. LOL!

Fishtail Cottage: I will be over for a visit! Thanks for the comment.

Karen: I know. They do look so fragile. I have seen some really beat up wings on some that make me wonder what they have been through, but they keep on flying.

Bonnie: You are welcome and so glad you dropped by today.

Marsha: Thank you and I am glad you dropped by. Don't be a stranger. LOL!

Sweetbay: Thank you and you have a wonderful week.

A beautiful walk on such a wintery day and to think the butterflies spangling the flowers made it remarkable. Breath taking post.

Beautiful photos and poems, Lona. There is something about seeing a butterfly that makes the heart leap. They are such free, peaceful, and utterly vulnerable beings. I just saw a Red Admiral today, though it was too high in the tree to get a close-up shot. I'll never cease to marvel at these lovely visitors.

Dear Lona,
What beauty beholds the butterfly!
What grace they display when they fly and I always love to invite them into my garden.
Lovely post,

Hi Lona,

Lovely post! Indeed I'd love to see some Butterflies and have warmer weather right now.
I have spotted my first Ladybirds earlier in the week, so am hopeful that it won't be long before the Butterflies also return.

How beautiful! The sight of a butterfly always stops me in my tracks - even if I've already seen dozens in a day I will still stop and watch it and sigh in admiration of its beauty.

Thank you for all the gorgeous butterfly photographs. They are why I garden.

I really enjoyed the poem and your images. It seems so long to wait for their return. It is as this is what the butterfly would wish considering his short wonderful, carefree life flitting here and there.
