If I Just Close My Eyes

Winter Garden
"In winter's cold and sparkling snow,
The garden in my mind does grow.
Bench2_Feb6
I look outside to blinding white,
And see my tulips blooming bright.
Tulips_Red_Vareigated
And over there a sweet carnation,
Softly scents my imagination.
Phlox_Sprinkles
On this cold and freezing day,
The Russian sage does gently sway,
FPC_RussianSage_Aug18
And miniature roses perfume the air,
I can see them blooming there.
MRoses2_Sept3
Though days are short, my vision's clear.
And through the snow, the buds appear.
OMC_Crabapple_SM
In my mind, clematis climbs,
Clematis_CrimsonStar
And morning glories do entwine.
MorningGloryBush_Blue

Woodland phlox and scarlet pinks,
WildPhlox_drops
Replace the frost, if I just blink.
Frozen_Tenicles
My inner eye sees past the snow.
And in my mind, my garden grows."

Such a wonderful poem accompanied by beautiful images. As much snow as I see here, your first image really touched me in its snowy simplicity. I almost wanted to stop and sit with a thermos of hot chocolate and calmly watch the steam billow into the air around my face. This image has a story to tell.

Hi Lona,

Lovely! I think I might just join you in your dream.

It's bright here today but quite frosty so I will not attempt the jobs I intended to do - mulch, copice and sow some seeds.

I hope you have a nice week and any snow if you still have it, melts :)

This is simply beautiful, Lona. I hear yet another storm is heading our way and imagining flowers blooming and fragrance wafting along spring breezes makes it a bit easier to endure.

Be warm and well!

I'm closing my eyes ~ trying really hard to see spring!! It's snowing and blowing here today (temperatures in the teens) so spring seems like a stretch. Good thing you have so many great photos posted to remind us. I love the last photo with the bench.

What beautiful images to illustrate a delightful poem! I really like your two wintry photos; they are perfect counterpoint to all the colorful flowers. May all your dreams of spring come true!

That was beautiful. I love the way you began and ended the post with the same scene. I also enjoyed your garden journal post. I inherited a beautiful garden journal from an old friend and must start keeping it up. Yours looks very professional. It does definitely help.

Dittos to that! Out my window I see browns and grays, but in my imagination... oh the gardens are indeed blooming away!

Just GORGEOUS! I've been going through some spring flower pics myself and am getting ready to put together a "dream of spring" post. I think I'll include a link to yours here, if that's okay!
