Almost A Bloom

Well it looks like this is as close as I can get to having an actual bloom in the house at the moment.

Copy (1) of IMG_0001

I rescued this amaryllis from the clearance isle last
month to at least have one amaryllis in bloom since
my others refused to bloom for me this winter.
Hopefully this one will be the Peach Blossom
that I was expecting last winter which turned out to
be a Red Lion when it then came into bloom.
Last year was such a strange year for surprise blooms.

We have two days in the sixties here now and it has been
so nice but a bit windy.
It did get me out into the yard to see if anything green was
coming up for Fertilizer Friday but the pickings were
slim to nothing.

I could see the tips of a few daffodils trying to make it
up through the frozen soil and a tulip or two but that was about it. But it is just enough to let me know there will be blooms in the spring.

With the winds blustering about those old oak leaves were
blowing up from the woods and had filled in the small pump pond so I did get it cleaned out but thoughts of getting the rake out and cleaning the beds again would have been futile   attempt to only have to be redone again later so
I refrained from that temptation though I was ready
and wanting to get right to it.

A check of the rose bushes showed some greening buds
so they look like they have survived this very cold winter.

The seedlings are growing well indoors so there is hope
summer blooms.

My daughter and I were able to get out for a walk also this week with the warmer temperatures and although there were still some icy trails it was good to get into the park
again for some much needed exercise.
The ice on the falls and rock walls were starting to
melt away.

But with cold weather and the prediction of snow next week
it is a reminder that winter is still here for another month.

Until Next Time,
Lona

We still have piles of snow, but the yard is snow-free, at least for one more day, so I hear. Hope your amaryllis blooms!

Have a good weekend!

It won't be long before that Amaryllis is blooming. The tend to grow and bloom so fast it's almost shocking to me.
Yeah for new growth in the garden! Here it's gotten really cold again. Can't wait for temps to be in the 60's.

It has also been warm here, but nothing as warm as you, midteens. Forecast is for more snow tomorrow:(. Love your photos. Take care and have a wonderful weekend.

Hi Lona, These are a pretty set of pictures. We have had mild weather here as well. The weatherman says temperatures will dip back to normal tomorrow. Enjoy the weekend.

You really do have a beautiful selection of blooms on your blog today. Lots of happy color. We are getting crazy wind here today. I am betting to see much damage tomorrow. The snow is melting and flooding is in our area. Tomorrow is really going to be a surprise.

Lona,

It will be nice to have the amaryllis blooming now. Next year I am going to stagger planting them so they are not gone so fast. I see some daffodils poking through, but I still have some snow left in my garden.

It looks like you have a winner there. Hopefully you will have a beautiful bloom on that fat stem.

I just clicked on...A Tour of My Garden....and took a walk around your property. Did you know I was there? You just have flowers everywhere. How pretty!

Ah color, I love it.

What is the beautiful blue flower? Am I that deprived of flowers that I can't tell what it is?

Now I have been watching those beautiful pictures of flowers instead! (You must excuse me my bad english...I`m from Norway =)
You made my day!
Have a nice weekend!

We had two really nice days but today it is cold, snowy and windy. Love the photos of your bloom. Love the flower container that your amaryllis is in. V

Hello Lona, what gorgeous colors, so good to see the flowers. I hope your amaryllis comes true to name this time, but any color would be welcome right about now. We never made it into the 60's, just the 40's, but it felt so warm. However, there's a big snowstorm predicted for tomorrow. Oh, well, back to the stained glass. :-)

Wonderful photos. We are all tired of the winter snow. Just as we think that the earth is done with the white, more comes down. My snodrops are struggling to do anything!

Glad you are getting a small feel of spring but just hope not much more snow to come.

Weren't those warm days wonderful? I worked in the garden, and LOVED it! The home show is almost here, but I haven't decided when to go. Don't worry, I don't have to delegate hubby to the lawn, he loves it there! Seriously, he is a lawn maniac, so I wanted to honor his obsession in stone! LOL

I'm enjoying the last of my forced bulbs this weekend so it'll be a long month before the garden shows any signs of life. Always the upcoming garden shows to keep us going...any on your calendar? Love the colorful closeups of this post, Lona ;)

I forgot to say I love the look of your blog and the header collage.

I just noticed some daffodils coming up today. I have lots of leaves down, so there could be more. We had a few nice days, too, and are expecting another tomorrow, then, back to winter.
