The Flowers as May Comes to an End

May has gone by swiftly although some days felt like they were longer than others.
Now that warmer temperatures have come to stay,
(or should I say that out loud) it seems that the garden beds are having something new blooming every day.
So as May comes to a close here are some of the flowers that are gracing my garden with their blooms.

In the Woods:

BerryBlossoms3 First in the woods the berry vines are loaded with blooms.

BerryBlossoms
The birds seem to always beat me to the berries when they start to ripening.

Honeysuckle

The Japanese Honeysuckle invading the trees in the woods are blooming.

JackinthePulpit_May26
and the ‘Jack in the Pulpits’ are still blooming.

In the Flower Gardens:

Campanula_ChettleCharm
Campanula ‘Chettle Charm’ Bellflowers are blooming in the Woodland bed and as they age will get their blue edges.

Campanula_Peachleaf_White
White Peachleafed Campanula are blooming in the large Middle Bed.

Clematis_Fantasia Clematis ‘Fantasia’ is unfurling her layers of petals. I am sorry I misnamed it as Josephine in previous postings.I had both and one died and I thought this one was Josephine until it started opening its many petals.

Geranium_Bloom
The geraniums are starting to bloom. I planted three this spring which were suppose to be Birches Doubles but I think I was sent the wrong geraniums. Does anyone know what this lovely purple single blooming one is called?

SilverMoon2_Salvia The ‘Silver Moon’ Clematis is still blooming but she is looking the worst for wear after the storm on Tuesday.

Iris_BrindleBeauty3 The ‘Brindel Beauty’ Iris is getting its first blooms in the Woodland bed.

Iris_BrindleBeauty

Heuchera_PurplePalace2 Heuchera "’Purple Palace’ is getting its teeny little blooms.

Rhododenron_May26
The Rhododendrons are starting to loose their blooms now and lie scattered along the walkways.

Rhododendron_PJM_May26

 Rhododendron_NovaZemba_May26

Peony_Sorbet ‘Sorbet’ Peonies are blooming and looking lovely.

Peony_Sorbet2

In the Containers:

Pink_Argyranthemum_May26 Pink Argyranthemum are settling in

Petunia_Pinstripe_May26
beside of the Pinstripe petunias. I am going to love these petunias.

Lobelia_DarkBlue_May26 One of my favorite container filler is dark blue Lobelia.

Osteospermum
I have to have at least one Osteospermum in a container every summer. She looks pretty with the lobelia matching her blue centers.

 Petunia_Dolcissima_Liomcello
The Dolcissima Liomcello yellow petunias grown from seed have been added to containers and are starting to bloom.

In the Rose Garden:

Rose_GertrudeJekyll
‘Gertrude Jekyll’ has a few buds.

CrimsonBouquet2_May26
‘Crimson Bouquet’ has its first bloom and is full of buds.

Rose_RedKnockout The red double Knockout Rose is not liking its wet feet and has some yellow leaves near the bottom.

Rose_PinkKnockout The pink Knockout is starting to bloom also.

DoubleDelight_RoseBloom ‘Double Delight’ looks beautiful in the evening sun.

Sunny_Knockouts
‘Sunny’ Knockout is such a beautiful yellow rose.

 Under the Trees:

FairyGarden2
And the gnomes and fairies got moved into their vacation home for the summer under the Sugar Maple tree. They like laying on the Irish Moss.

I want to wish everyone a safe holiday weekend and let us not forget those who have gone on before us and those who gave their all for us to enjoy the freedoms we have every day.

Thank you and God Bless,
Lona

Hi,

Lovely photos, you garden is really beginning to race away now! We've hit a lull here as cooler temperatures have replaced our unusually warm spring, so I'm waiting for my seedlings to get larger and begin flowering for me :)

You have so many beautiful flowers. Thanks for sharing. And thanks for remembering our soldiers, and the soldiers of previous wars. Without them the world would not be as it is today.

The Dolcissima Liomcello petunia seems uncommonly subtle for a petunia. I think it's lovely.

Lovely post and flowers. Sure has been an interesting spring to say the least. Linda and I were recently at the Biltmore estate/gardens will be doing a future post. Thought of you as we walked through the gardens

Lovely pictures - so much variety and colour. What a beautiful time of year for flowers!
I wonder if the Geranium could be Geranium himalayense the single form of the flower you thought you had bought.

truly wonderful flowers, beautifully photographed. I adore the fairies and the fairy tree. Every garden needs fairies, even more than gnomes I think - although i wouldn't want to sound gnom-ist. (lol)

wonderful fairies - every garden needs fairies and if possible a tree for them to live in ...

We have some of the same roses. My 'Knock Out' is about to burst and so is 'Gertie' [Gertrude Jekyll.] Not to mention Double Delight with its most awesome fragrance. I hope you have a fun and relaxing Memorial Day.

Wow, so many blooms in your garden, it was great to look at all the pictures! Superb photography too. I was taken in by your not-Josephine clematis in your previous post, the color is exactly the same, but you are right, it has more petals :). I love your roses, and the rhododendrons are spectacular. Thanks for posting these wonderful pictures.

Your pictures are beautiful! It sure looks pretty there. I think my garden is getting ready to pop soon, iris, roses and peonies are just barely starting to open. I love the fairies and gnomes. Maybe they are creating some of the magic? :)

Hi Lona,

Absolutely beautiful photos. I have a feeling, though, that your garden is probably even more spectacular in person.

Thank you for the tour.

What warm weather??? Sorry, couldn't resist. We're still waiting for it but I'm glad it's arrived in your garden.
There is so much to comment on, I can't remember it all. The iris is spectacular tho ~ I can see many people think so. I've admired your sorbet peony before too. It's gorgeous. 'Fantasia' clematis looks a lot like 'Josephine' ~ I'm not sure I can tell the difference? Either way it a true knockout.
Enjoy your beautiful garden Lona and I hope you've been having a good Memorial Day weekend.

Lona, I don't know which I covet more. Your Campanula ‘Chettle Charm’ Bellflowers or the Fantasia clematis. Such gorgeous blooms!

Stunning blooms Lona, and so many familiar faces! Even the gnome door (which I must put out for the year..). I would love to see the white campanula edged in blue! Your double (triple..) clematis is amazing. Pinstripe is lovely, but I am somewhat resentful as it has taken the place of my beloved similar-but-not-quite-the-same blue star. Your geranium looks quite a bit like Rozeanne, but I am no expert. :)
