The Bill Warriner Rose

Another stormy night last evening and this morning with wind and hail has many of my roses beaten up and petals laying on the ground which really disappoints me. Many gone before I had gotten a chance to enjoy them. Fortunately many are repeaters through the summer but it has played havoc with the first flushes of blooms from them.

The new Sky’s the Limit climbing rose does not like the rain or hail and shows it by its brown edges.

But the new Bill Warriner rose blooms came through it all and still looks beautiful

Bill_Warriner4_Roses

The Peach-Salmon colored petals hung right on despite the hail and wind.

Bill_Warriner4_Rain It is a  floribunda rose that blooms from early summer to late summer with a sweet fragrance.

Bill_Warriner2_RainBeauty It is disease resistant and has a compact shrub growing habit.

Bill_Warriner2_Rain Growing from 3 to 4 feet in height this shrub rose is good in zones 5 to 9.

Bill_Warriner3_Rain Since it is new I will wait to see how it fairs over the summer and how well it does hold up to Ohio’s winters.
Since it held up so well in the storms this week (much better than the trees) I can give it good marks so far.

Bill_Warriner_Roses  The trees are cleaned up now along with the yard after the storms this week and hopefully we will have no more trees falling this year. My small yard is going to be surrounded by brush piles from all of the storm debris.
So many of the flowers keep getting flattened and beaten up and it does not make for pretty beds or for taking pictures of the beds.
Also it keeps bring up the snakes from the rain swollen hollows to the hill tops. Another snake was wrapped around the water hose yesterday just waiting for me.  LOL! I went and got the shovel but it went up under the vinyl siding around the foundation of the house. I could not get it to come out and it started raining so I had to give up on the snake stalking. I just hope it left after dark. You all know by know from my previous posting how I really feel about snakes so I will not bore you about that subject again.LOL!

Happy Gardening,
Lona

'Bill Warriner' has really come up trumps. For 'Sky's the Limit', maybe it should be called 'BLUE Sky's the Limit' ;)

Beautiful Rose. Love the color of it. I know exactly how you feel. We no more and get some blooms and they are beat to death with the hard rain we are getting. I thought last year was weird, but I think by far that this one is. Hope things get better for both of us. Oh and good luck on the snake stalking. :)

Despite the rain, they look beautiful! We had a big storm today too and everything is a mess!

Lona, I too posted on the same weather. We have been having weather very similar. But the NOAA just posted that the La Nina is over for the year. Funny, but we are still getting the rain. And record amounts too.

Bill is a beauty. A rose that has everything, it sounds like. Fingers are crossed that it does well over the winter. More snakes? Eww! I hope they leave you alone from here on out.

Oh those snakes! I walk with heavy feet, trying to scare them away. Your roses are gorgeous....I love the first one with the red tinged edges. Beautiful!

Another snake? Wow - they seem to be stalking you this year! The rose is gorgeous. I love how it's darker on the outside, lighter in the middle. The fact that it still looks this good after a rain storm is amazing!

Lovely, that Bill Warriner.

I'm sure I've told you the story of being warned so much about watching for snakes that I stood in a bed of fire ants while watching for snakes. Then while watching for snakes and fire ants I walked into the electric fence.

So glad you got the trees cleaned up. It has been a scary year for falling trees. The roses are gorgeous. I so wish I could smell them.

Ew, sorry for the creepy snakes! The rose is so pretty and cheerful. I think I'll have my first rose bloom by the end of the week, despite our cold weather. So exciting!

They look so pretty covered in rain-drops. I woke this morning to a down poor and my very sad (and somewhat unsupported) climbing rose toppling over to the ground from the weight of the rain. Love the salmon color, just divine! Thanks Lona for stopping by my WW last week, I've been lazy on vacation and only now replying to everyone's comments...Cheers Julia

They sure do look great with the rain drops on them though - don't they? Ew on the snakes too....
