Blooms in the Garden for the First day of Spring

Well the big day has arrived…Spring !
Although here it has began to feel like summer with 80 degree temperatures. This is really a record for this time of the year for Ohio. We have gotten a few thunder storms with those summer like temperatures but in between the showers I head out into the yard to work on the flower beds. We will take the lovely weather while we can and hope it stays this way.

Hyacinth_Gipsy_Queen
The aroma of hyacinths in bloom in the front yard is heavenly. Usually when they bloom it is too cold to be out side to enjoy the fragrance.

Some of the blooms are splattered with mud from the rains but that does not hide all the beauty of them.

Hyacinth_Pink
From the colors of Delft Blues, Peach, Yellow, Purple and Pinks.
The new bulbs look wonderful while some of the older bulbs have fewer blooms on the stems and need replaced this fall.

Hyacinth_Yellow
The pansies in the window boxes are really growing now and starting to bloom.

Primroses are looking beautiful too with their new blooms opening.

This red one is so bright it about hurts the eyes to look at.

And many Daffodils are in bloom now. The daffodils that were beat down from the hail and storms have raised back up but are a little muddy but I love the peach and orange trumpets on them.

Even the Pulmonaria Diana Clare is starting to bloom with these warm temperatures.

And there are even a few blooms on the peach tree in the woods which seemed to have appear overnight.

Hellebore_Seeding
The Royal Heritage Hellebore  blooms are now turning green and are getting new leaf growth. And they are setting on seed heads it appears. I got the older leaves off of them last week.

VincaMinor
Vinca Minor or Creeping Myrtle is growing and blooming on the bank behind the garage.
So for the first day of Spring there are a lot of blooms in the garden this year.
Everyone have a terrific week and…
Happy Gardening,
Lona

Lona, you're right, that red primrose is very, very bright, how beautiful! I am simply amazed by this spring. I'm glad to see your daffodils are still doing their best to flower after being pounded with the rain and hail. Everything is going so fast this year, I'm trying hard to play catch up.

I love the orchids in your earlier post, too. They are almost too pretty to be real, aren't they? Such gorgeous blooms.

Isn't this just lovely Lona to see everything burst open almost all at once. It is just like a dream garden, hope we don't get punished for enjoying this so much. Your hyacinths are beautiful and I love the primrose, only one of mine came back from last year and I just bought another one.

Beautiful pictures and I especially love your photos of the primrose. I miss growing primrose. In my garden on Long Island, New York, I had many primrose but here in Virginia I can't seem to grow them. I must try again - seeing your photos inspired me.

Oh wow Lona looks like spring has sprung at your place. Hard to believe that your temps are the same as ours. Yikes - it's gonna be a long hot summer. Your hyancinths are stunning and so big. Mine were little runts this year. Do you fertilize your early spring bloomers? Love the peach daffodil and the primroses. Have a great afternoon and Happy Spring.

Happy spring Lona! Beautiful blooms in your garden, I love the hyacinths. I'm planning to plant for the first time tulips this year. Do you know how to grow them? I heard they are perennials where we live.

OMG...you totally reminded me that I planted Hyacinths last fall! I have to go out after I get home tonight to see if they're up! I agree about the scent...so amazing!

Happy first day of spring to you, Lona! What a nice assortments of hyacinths you have! You do not see the peach colored ones very often. The primroses are also really nice. I think the primroses that I added last year made it through the winter, fingers crossed that they bloom soon.

Spring really has arrived in your garden! Gorgeous blooms! I love your hyacinths. I really thought I had planted some of these last fall, but obviously I am mistaken because none came up. I'll be sure to plant some this coming fall! Love that white primrose, too.

Your flowers are so much ahead of ours and so pretty! It has been a strange 'Winter', if you can call it that. I can only imagine the aroma from your flowers. I used to have some Hyacinth, but remember the fragrance. I've had Primrose in a pot in the hosue, and the smell was SO sweet.

Very pretty Lona. You have a lot of different Spring flowers in your garden. The rain so far has missed us recently. I have a couple orders coming next week, hope it rains after that.

I've always seen and admired hyacinths in blogs, and yours are so beautiful most especially because you have most colors. I think i haven't seen the orange often in blogs. I hope i can still smell its scent in the future.
