Since the only news going on here is about the weather and destruction I will not comment or go into great detail about it since many of you may be tired of hearing about it.
Some of the blooms I found yesterday still standing were:
‘Angelface’ Angelonia
Astilbe ‘Delft Lace’
‘Becky’ Shasta Daises. The Leather Wings are on many of the blooms now along with the Japanese Beetles.
‘Hot Papaya’ Echinacea
Pulchella ‘Dazzler’ Gaillardia
‘Summer Beauty’ Hydrangea
Lemon Lantana
Unknown White Asiatic Lily.
‘Wild Horses’ Daylily
‘Raspberry Wine’ Monarda Bee Balm
Platycodon ‘Astra Pink’ . I thought this one had died over the winter but a small sprig has started back up.
The Mimosa tree is in bloom.
God Bless those who gave their all to make us a Nation of the Free and who keep us safe everyday in every service whether over seas or here in our own nation.

'Delft Lace' is an interesting astilbe. I have not heard of that one.

Hi Lona, I'm so sorry to hear about the storms. Gosh, I'm glad your home was spared destruction. We're having the same weather here, too, with wild storms popping up and hail and weirdness. Some areas just north and south of us received over 7" of rain last night and we just have a trace every day. Not enough to wet the rain gauge. And temps in the 90's day after day.
I'm so glad to see the beauties in your garden that survived the storm. Let's hope the weather calms down soon. Happy 4th of July!
Lona, sorry to hear about the damage from the storms. At least you were safe! We dodged the bullet here. All the surrounding areas had horrible damage and still have no power. The mountain shielded us from the wind.

This has been one crazy summer! I missed the terrible heat wave as I was up in Canada, but have come back to quite the state in the garden. You look like you have quite a few beautiful blooms that have made it through the terrible weather! I absolutely love that pink Platycodon!

Oh dear so much destruction can happen to our gardens, it can be hard to bear.

Lona, I'm so glad your garden is holding out in this horrible drought and the storms! Mine is a mess. Still healing, so the poor garden is on it's own while the J beetles munch away, and the drought takes down the weaklings. It's a sad state of affairs for a gardener! Zepherine is supposed to be a repeat bloomer, but it's in a lull with this heat, so we'll see. It has a tiny bit of blackspot, but it doesn't seem too bad. Mine is only about 1 1/2 years old, so the verdict is still out.
I will have to think about planting coleus seeds next year. Are yours sun coleus?

I hope you can find an 'Aloha' ~ I stumbled across mine at our local nursery. They had so many different ones ~ I wanted them all but settled for two! Darn the budget.
Yes, my pale lavender Monarda does have some mildew problems ~ I really haven't ever grown one that doesn't but I don't have 'Raspberry Wine.'
