Tis the Season in the Garden

December is just a wonderful month of celebration and thankfulness and giving. Okay so it can be hectic to if we let it and there can be surprises along the way.
For gardeners who are always thinking about their gardens it is an opportunity to check out the latest gardening gadgets and winter bulbs as gifts for our gardening friends or maybe ourselves. LOL!

“Tis the Season” to decorate the empty garden spots with some decorations to add color to now bleak gardens here in the northern states.

CHristmas_Planter2012
The Garden Fairies packed up and left their home in the garden container for warmer climates so what does a gardener do with the empty vacated containers? Decorate it for Christmas with lights, ribbons and faux poinsettia because that is what we gardeners do and….

Sled_Windowboxes2012
The outdoor furniture is stored away in the garden shed so out comes the sled now to be decked out in red ribbons and lights to fill the empty porch. And empty window boxes are filled with pine and faux poinsettias because we are gardeners first and always and…

Hyacinths_December5
And bare garden beds come alive because of course it “Tis the Season”
for  hyacinths ????
Well who could blame them for wanting to come early to celebrate the December and the Season of Celebration.

Strange things are always showing up to surprise us gardeners.
The cold and snow we had previously then went into rain and temperatures in the sixties and has started the hyacinths in my garden to start growing.
I even spotted a few tips of some daffodils poking through the soil.
Are there strange happenings in your garden?
Because it seems “Tis is the Season”.

Happy Gardening,

Lona

Lona, it's wonderful idea to decorate empty vases!I cleaned them and put in a shed, now I will take them off and decorate. We have time before holiday so I will prepare some things for containers.

Not much is happening in my garden. I'm definitely dreaming of spring already. The catalogs are starting to come in and I'm having fun thinking about what I would like to plant in a few months.
I can't believe you have a hyacinth coming up!

I like the big container you have, what a nice looking one. We have lots of buds swelling on many plants. Hope the winter weather doesn't hurt too much new growth.

Love how festive your empty containers are for the season.

I wonder if that hyacinth will make it up to full bloom? As you said it's a strange weather year.

That pot looks great, the color in it really pops. Can't believe a Hyacinth is coming up already. Now that we are getting really freezing maybe it will hold off like it's suppose to.
