Attention Spring Has Been Postponed

Well it may be spring by the moon, sun and the calendars but no one has notified March that it is suppose to be spring in Ohio now.

Maxine
The winter decorations on the front porch was swapped out for pretty spring décor the day before spring in the hopes of what that one little day would mean, but the magical meaning of that day did not cause the cold fronts with snow flurries to head in another direction to keep them away.

Groundhog

And this little liar went right back into his hole to keep from freezing but I guess we rely upon his appearance more than his pedigree.
March is the month for flying kites but if you would have even had an umbrella this week here in Ohio you might have been mistaken for auditioning  for the character of Merry Poppins at the Ohio Theatre.

Not to mention how we are ever going to keep those Easter Bonnets on our heads soon.
And if the weather forecast's for Ohio are right then pretty Easter frocks will be hidden by winter coats and gloves into April here.

Spring_Wecome

Last year it was warm early and in the 80’s with early flowers and even roses in bloom so maybe it spoiled us all here.

Trees_in_Bloom
So it may be spring on the calendar but there are no lovely blooms here like these for a while yet because spring has been put on hold in the hills.
LOL! I guess we have to have a sense of humor about it all so with that being said everyone have a wonderful week and weekend!
And remember………….

Whether the weather be fine,
Or whether the weather be not,
Whether the weather be cold,
Or whether the weather be hot,
We'll weather the weather
Whatever the weather,
Whether we like it or not!

Happy Gardening,

Lona

That all is so cute!LOL
We are looking for 1-3 in of snow.
All trees are in bloom and my camellia bush, rose bushes are all leafed out with no buds yet.

Thanks for the chuckle Lona. Great post. I have given up on spring for the time being and just enjoying what is:) Take care and have a lovely weekend.

Nie tylko u Was jest taka wiosna, u nas też niestety. Zima nie chce odejść. Pozdrawiam.
Not only with you is the spring with us too, unfortunately. Winter does not want to leave. Yours.

Hi Lona,

I love that poem! It's good to keep a sense of humor about it all, isn't it? I mean what can we do?

We've had a chilly week here. Lots of rain but no snow, thankfully. Last week was beautiful so I was able to get a lot done.

Hopefully this late winter will mean you're saved from the drought you had last year.

I have a little message I'm going to email you.

Oh Lona, I was just posting the same yearning on my newest blog too of my desire to get back into the dirt. Winter seems to be toying with us here in Cleveland a well. I am typing this at the same time as the snow is flying, sideways I might add, and covering our yard once more.

Love the weather poem!

Same here with spring. Nice enough to work in the garden beds all week. Snow expected this weekend!

Haven't planted a single veggie yet.

Love your post.
Pretty roses!! Won't be long.
I would just be happy with some sunshine right now.
I did plant some cat grass today in a pot.

Our weather does seem weird every year now. Suppose to get snow Sunday. Like to get back to normal.

Spring is certainly toying with us this year. Looks like there may be some hope by the end of next week. Fingers crossed. Happy Gardening!

Lona, lovely poem,
it's true 'Whether we like it or not!' spring will come. I think not early, in April. We have cold weather here, but sunny and windy. It's nice picture looking through the window only!

Lovely little poem you ended with Lona. It seems the weather is going wrong all over the world. Spring in westeren Europe is still far away we have temperatures around zero at the moment with strong wind from the east. My Narcises "February Gold" will flower in April I suppose.

Hi Londa,

No sign of spring here, either. You're not alone! We're currently being snowed on... AGAIN! And we're at approx. 5 inches now and it's due to snow all day tomorrow too.

When spring does arrive, it had better not rain for months to make up for all the rain last year and snow over the past couple of months.

Your post made me chuckle, although I know you're probably not seeing the funny side of Spring's absence at the moment. Hopefully that springtime weather is just around the corner now.

Lona, I had such a good chuckle from your post! I love the weather poem, too. The weather here is just the same as you seem to be experiencing, lots and lots of cold and snow. It's a good thing I have the glass hobby or I'd be a stark-raving mad lunatic by now. Last spring we had the warm weather really early too, I think I mowed lawn in March---but then we had a very late frost that killed all the buds on the fruit trees which was devastating to the orchards around us. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what's up Ma Nature's sleeve next.

Have a great weekend, Lona!

Spring...all ya can do is sigh and wait sometimes. The good news is that once it gets rolling, it comes fast! Hang in there!

Ah yes the weather will be what it will be...but we all know that it would be better if it was spring everywhere.

Thanks for the get well wishes, and prayers.

Oh you said it so well, Lona. I'm trying to be patient as I wait for it to all sort out... but the back and forth between Winter and Spring is growing rather old.

Oh Lona, I'm hanging on by my fingertips waiting for spring to actually arrive! Starting my Master Gardener classes this Friday, so excited! You're right, my little windowsill petunia is amazing! I think it's magical because my grandson gave it to me. It's a south facing window, and I drop fertilizer in there sometimes. In return, I have red blossoms year round! I think I'm going out to buy some pansies today to cheer me up. Maybe someday I can actually plant them!
