Hello Everyone! It Has Been A While.

Hello everyone. My, it seems like so long since I took a break from blogging that I do not know if I remember how to do it anymore. LOL!
You would think with such a long break that I would have all kinds of things to post about but that is not the case.
Life has a way of throwing us curves that we have to take care of and that is my case here. Gardening was put on the back burner for a while. Now I am ready to get with it again and my passion for gardening has returned and I am ready to get this weird winter out of the way and move onto some spring.
I hope everyone is surviving this crazy winter weather. Wow! Record lows all around here in Ohio and with no snow cover I am fearing for my flowers.
It may be freezing outside but luckily in doors under the lights there has been some over wintered plants that have given me some color.

Pelargonium_Very_Rosey

Two of the four pelargoniums that I brought in are giving me a bloom or two. This is “Very Rosy” geranium. The picture’s are not the best since I used a little pocket camera for these shots but the petals are bright pink with deep burgundy centers.

Pelargonium_White

And I brought this White Pinto pelargonium in at the last minute this fall and now I am so glad I did because it has given me a beautiful bright, pure white bloom.

Cyclamen Winter Blooms

This sad little Cyclamen needs some new soil to perk it up but it is growing and has bloomed off and on all winter for me.
I promised it that it would get some new soil this spring. I had gotten it two years ago at the Franklin Park Conservatory at Christmas time. I know! You are surprised it has not died as much as I am knowing my indoor plants survival rate.LOL!
But every bloom has been so welcome this hard winter and the blooms only make me more anxious to get my hands dirty.

Aspen_Nov27

Now Aspen loves the snow as you can see and he does not have enough sense to get in out of the rain for his walks but just run water for a bath for him and he is off and hiding. Go figure! LOL!

I hope you, all my gardening friends, are staying well and getting by this cold winter and I hope your gardens are not hurt by this Polar cold. Spring gets closer with every day and the days are getting longer which I love to see.

Happy Gardening,

Lona

Hello! Hello!
Nice to see you're surviving the winter. Aspen is too cute in the snow.
You are lucky to have some pretty flowers inside for the winter. I'm looking forward to a hyacinth and my orchid is making buds. Big cudos for me getting it to rebloom. Can't wait!
It was nice to see you stopped by to visit. I have warmer temps for you but you have to deal with the wind.
Here's to garden planning!

Glad to have you back Lona. I was off for a couple of months and it felt strange beginning again. I think the new puppy threw me for a loop but things are slowly getting back to normal. I have never had luck with cyclamen, have one now that I am slowly killing.

Dear Lona, your lovely indoor blooms are so cheery...I'm so glad you posted them ;) I have never brought my pelargoniums indoors for the winter, although, I do take them out of their outside pots and put them in a box in the garage for the winter. Once the freezing temps. are over I plant them outside once again, and they begin to bloom almost immediately. Great idea to have them inside for the winter! Your pup is so sweet. My poodle doesn't mind running in snow and loves it, too. So glad you've posted again after a long break. I'm glad we're friends on facebook or I would have really missed you for all these months ;)

Welcome back, hope you had a wonderful break. It has been a terrible winter, with the freezing and thawing. The only constant is all the snow, keeping my plants protected. Have a wonderful day. Jen

Dear Lona ~ It is so good to see you back here and I hope you are doing much better.

Your blooms are pretty and Aspen is a hoot with snow on his face.

Pretty soon spring will be here and you'll be able to play out in your gardens again.

Have a good week ~ FlowerLady

Hi Lona, How wonderful it is to hear from you again, gosh, I've missed you! Those pelargoniums are really a sight for sore eyes, just what I needed to see with all the white snow surrounding me.

Your little dog is adorable and what is it about bath time? Mine run and hide, too!

GSS: Girl your house is going to smell so good when that hyacinth blooms. I tried that one year but they did not do so well for me.

Eileen: Oh, I know what you mean. These new puppies take a lot of care and attention.Especially mine who likes to chew on everything. LOL!

Jan: It is going to be a challenge to get started back up to blogging again I think. I should have waited until spring when more gardening was happening. LOL!

Jen: We had no snow fall for the first Polar Vortex that hit us so I am in fear for some plants. But now we do have some snow to protect them from the ones to come.

Lorraine: I can hardly wait girl to play in the dirt! LOL!

Joy girl you know I have no luck with indoor plants either! Poor things. Some have survived in spit of my handling. LOL!

Pearl: This pup wants all of my attention. He is a Momma's boy. LOL!

Karen: Thank you for the email my friend. One is on its way in return. :)

Hi Lona,

I'm sorry this winter has been so blasted cold for you and so many gardeners. We had our worst weather in December and things aren't so bad now. We are low on rainfall though.

I think when spring gets here we're all going to be interested in how each other's plants have done. Hopefully there won't be too many casualties for any of us. Take care and hang in there. Spring isn't too far away now.

These pretty pelargoniums are as marvellous as you Lona. Oh I am so happy that you informed me about your new blog add. Tq! Now I will not miss seeing your beautiful flowers and following your garden updates anymore. Hope the cyclamen will get some new soil to settle into soon hehe... have a great Sunday!! And, hello Aspen :-)

Hi, Lona! Glad you're with us blogging as always! Your pelargonium are pretty, I have mine indoors as well but they don't bloom. You're right---snow has to be when the temps are such low. I was worrying of my plants in December, there was no snow.
Have a nice weekend!

Lona, Good to see you again! I am actually enjoying my winter hibernation with needle and threads rather than rake and spade. In about a month, however, I'm off the exhibit at a Garden show, so that will get the juices flowing to dig in the dirt again> As you say, Spring will be here before we know it! Jeri

You are so good about overwintering your plants! Now I am the one who is not very good at house plants. Every year I swear that I will buy and keep some common geraniums for indoor use, and every year I don't do it. I know this little bit of greenery is keeping you sane till gardening season returns.
