Happy Birthday Dad
Those we love remain with us for love itself lives on,
And cherished memories never fade, because a loved
ones gone.
Those we love can never be more than a thought apart,
For as long as there is a memory, they’ll live within our
hearts.
In Memory of Marvin “Brownie” Brown
November 11, 1927 – August 31, 2005
Dad your life was full of loving deeds,
Forever thoughtful of our special needs.
Today and tomorrow, my whole life through,
I will always love and cherish you.
Remembering Those Who Gave & Give All
On Veteran’s Day we honor
Soldiers who protect our nation.
For their service as our warriors,
They deserve our admiration.
Some of them were drafted;
Some were volunteers;
For some it was just yesterday;
For some it’s been many years;
In the jungle or the desert,
On land or on the sea,
They did whatever was assigned
To produce a victory.
Some came back; some didn’t.
They defended us everywhere.
Some saw combat; some rode a desk;
All of them did their share.
No matter what the duty,
For low pay and little glory,
These soldiers gave up normal lives,
For duties mundane and gory.
Let every veteran be honored;
Don’t let politics get in the way.
Without them, freedom would have died;
What they did, we can’t repay.
We owe so much to them,
Who kept us safe from terror,
So when we see a uniform,
Let’s say "thank you" to every wearer.

Thank you and May God Always Keep You in the Palm of His Hand.

Lovely remembrance of your father. I know you do miss him. Handsome man. Happy Veterans day. Lovely poem to remind us too.
That is a wonderful and touching tribute to all veterans. My own father was a WWII vet from the 101 st infantry group. I am going to a ceremony tomorrow for a Long Island Vets american Legion post. Cheers Lori
Nice tribute to your Dad, Lona. I hope you have a wonderful visit tomorrow through memories. Enjoy the weekend:)
Great post, Lona. Here in Oz we observe a moment's silence at 11.00 am on Nov 11th as a mark of respect for all those who make the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Even in the supermarket today, everyone stopped still when 11.00 was announced over the speakers.
Thank you for honoring our Servicemen. It makes me proud to see so many doing it..I was a Military wife for over 20 years and it's nice now to know our young men are honored.
This is a beautiful tribute to your dad and our veterans.
