Well It Is Over For Another Year !!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Our small family had dinner here at my house this year and it was nice having them here.

Christmas_Kids2_2012_SM
My two kids looked happy on Christmas day and were teasing each other.

Christmas_Mom_2012_SM

I did tell Mom to take her coat off and stay a while. LOL!

 Christmas_Aspen_2012_SM

Even little Aspen got a gift, a squeaky toy in the shape of a big pill which says ‘chill pill’ on it. He really needs a chill pill so I can keep up with the ornery rascal. LOL!

After a small snow of two inches right on time on Winter Solstice  it made for we a few drifts left for Christmas day so we could say it was a while Christmas.

Aspen_Snow_Dec292012

Last night we got four inches or more. It is lovely to look at and was a beautiful snow but Aspen does not like it anymore than I do to be out in it. By the time I got him back into the house he looked like a snowball with snow sticking to his fur.

Hydrangea_Snow_Dec292012
It painted the garden white and looked pretty on the dried hydrangea blooms left from fall.

Kids_Dec292012
The Garden Kids looked quite chilly but they were still smiling through it all.

 Garden_Dec292012

No birds are going to drink from that birdbath. Luckily there are a couple more around that have heaters in them.

Field_Dec292012

The field across the road looked lovely all coated in white.

Woods2_Dec292012

The woodland bed is in there somewhere.

Birdhouse2_Dec292012

The Bluebirds are a no show though in any of the houses this winter.

Clematis_Dec292012
I think I should have cut back this Autumn Mist clematis vine this fall.

The Crape Myrtle bush has plenty of seeds hanging onto it.

RoseOSharon_Dec292012

Plenty of Rose of Sharon seed pods too. I will be pulling up seedlings all next summer since I did not trim it back.

Rhododendron_Snow_Dec292012

The snow is heavy on the Rhododendron leaves.

Woods_Dec292012
The lilies, tulips, daffodils and irises in this woodland bed have a good snow covering now to protect them.

Aspen and I would like to wish you all a Blessed New Year ahead.

What a lovely series of pictures. We're getting 5-8" of snow here tonight in central CT. When you don't have to be anywhere it's nice to just sit back and enjoy the beauty of it.

Wishing you a peaceful New Year!

So glad you had a happy Christmas with your family. The snow is beautiful. And I love the 'garden kids' and their snow hats! Happy New Year!

Sounds like a good Christmas.
Love the snow photos! I need to get a heated bird bath. Poor birds stand on the frozen water and give me dirty looks through the patio door!
Have a Happy New Year.

You know we got the last 2 snows too which is different compared to last year. Now it seems to not want to stop and it's only December. It is pretty in photos though. Looks like everyone had a nice Christmas. Have a nice New Year Lona.

Gorgeous pictures of the snow in and around your garden. The Crape Myrtle looks beautiful with the seeds and of course little Aspen, I love dogs.
Wish you and your family and Aspen all the best for 2013 and of course a good gardening year!

Oooh! Pretty! Love your snowy pictures. And, Aspen is just cute as a button! What's he weigh? 10 lbs? My Bad Dog is 110 so I'm always jealous of friends with cuddly little pups. :)

Happy New Year!

Dear Lona, Thank you for sharing your family Christmas with us! Your garden looks like mine right now -- snow!! I smiled at your comment about the clematis -- I can see lots of work I should have done before winter arrived. Wishing you a very Happy New Year! P. x

My feathered friends are enjoying the spot on our pond I've been keeping open for my fish. It's so cold that any open water is a big draw--having a little winter life in my garden is fun! Happy New Year!

We had a pretty good Christmas, too. It sure seems like a long time ago!

You sure captured lots of beauty in that snow!
