Sitting Pretty or Pretty Garden Seating

Jean Magdich has worked with clay pottery for 30 years
and her workmanship and artwork has gained recognition when
it was featured in the Nature's Garden, Summer 2008 edition
of Better Homes and Gardens. A four page article on the
"An Artist's Garden" pictured her work.

Back in June I was fortunate to attend the Hocking House open
house sponsored by Jean and her husband at their home in the
Hocking Hills near Logan, Ohio.
Though living near Jean and the Hocking House, it was my first
time to visit the open house, which was in its 14th year.

I was in awe at all of the beauty and the craftsmanship displayed
in her clay works of art, which included everything one
would need or love to decorate or use in a garden.
Some of which were: sculptures, pots, stepping stones, tables,
seating, birdbaths, plaques, pedestals, and even a fire place.

The grounds surrounding her home and the old Hocking
House log cabin which was built in the 1850's are covered with
beds and pathways planted with many shade loving annuals
and perennials. Giant ferns and hosta, impatiens, lilies, coleus,
and caldium's. There were so many different flowers,
shrubs and vines all woven into garden rooms and pathways.
Scattered amongst all are the wonderful clay pottery creations
madeby Jean.

In this posting I want to share some of the clay pottery chairs
and tables that Jean has created.
