Day Dream of Spring

Day Dream of Spring

The greening of grass, the first birds of Spring,

The sounds that they make as loudly they sing,
Their flitting about, a new hope that they bring.

The feel of new plowed earth upon your feet,
And new mown grass that smells so sweet.
Just to go out into warm, fresh air is a treat.

The crocus and the lilies are just budding out,

The honey bees starting to buzz about,
And the mushrooms in the woods coming up stout.

The sun up in the sky so warm and bright,

The Spring cleaning to get Winters cobwebs out of sight,
And clothing that is colorful, pretty and light.

But it's time to wake up from daydreams and get about,

For today, from a ten percent chance of snow,
I HAVE TO SHOVEL OUT.

Though very silly and really bad poetry, I am trying to
jinx Winter and bring in Spring.
The Groundhog saw his shadow here!

I love it! A little silly and not so bad poetry is a great anodyne to the winter blahs. And yes, another snowstorm here to shovel out from too. At least we all have our power, unlike some of your neighbours (and mine too).

Not silly at all! Is that your Welcome Spring sign? Did you take your winter sign down, or are you waiting for it to be officially spring? Hope the weatherman was wrong!

Please give me the feel of "new plowed earth" upon my feet instead of the crunch of ice and snow. Your poem sounds like heaven to me, Lona. Come on spring!

Very well expressed. I too am ready for spring.

Six more weeks? How, why, when...

Sending you thoughts of spring, warm winter wishes.

Love that Spring sign, I used to paint garden signs and sell them. This one is lovely.

I liked the poem too. The picture of the white chair with flowers and the painted sign.... beautiful.

Girls: All I can say is Bad, Bad Groundhog!I have not took the winter signs down yet and I will just have to wait until Spring to put up the Spring sign. Drats.I will take the smell of grass and earth over the crunch of snow any day.
Thanks for the comments.

Hey Lona, help! I can't get into Blotanical no matter what I do! It says my account has been suspended and to call the billing department? Huh? Is it working for you? The page that comes up is very suspicious looking.

Our skies were overcast so there was no shadow to see here. Does that mean my spring will come earlier?

You've written a really lovely poem Lona! It's not even silly...except a little humor in the last line or so:) Ahh, humor...we all need some, right?! Sorry about the shoveling...I don't have to deal w/that this year. Spring will be here soon, I think probably sooner for me than you;( BUT, at least you are thinking positively (or trying!)

Cindy: No, as much as I want it to it will not come until its time.Drat!

Jan; if only all my talking and manipulating would only work. Alas I knew I was to fail from the beginning :)

Somehow this year in spite of the harsh winter, I have been able to anticipate spring with a feeling of patience instead of the usual desperation...

I hope you don't end up with a double post from me. I hit "publish" and I don't know what happened? Anyway, I don't think your poem is silly at all Lona. and your photo is great ~ the chair, the flower basket & the vintage watering can are all such welcome sights. I can't wait until it really looks like that outside!
