Ummmmm baddddddddd deer! I hope they at least enjoyed them.)-: Sorry for your loss! The cows are terrorizing my yard this year. I am about ready to have one for dinner.

Too bad they ate your tulips. I hate to work so hard and have something happen to it. Is there anything you can put out to deter the deer? I am going to place pie tins on string around my garden in hopes of deterring. Also some bb's in milk jugs. The noise frightens them.

When we lived in Texas the deers were all over so my husband plant a lot of rye grass away from the house. Then I but hair from our brush all in my flower beds and it did help.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh Nooooooooooooooooo!
They are/were so beautiful. I'm so sorry! Those little buggers - I know we love watching them but they can be soooooo destructive!
The first year we bought this place (19 years ago) I planted I think a couple hundred tulips. The following spring I had about 3. Something got 'em. I've never planted any since until this year my girlfriend gave me some oh and a couple of years ago 1 from a friend. They are in a big tub. Coming up as we speak.

How frustrating! Although I don't have any deer close to my yard, I know how destructive they can be.

Oh no. I guess I'm glad they left at least one for you to photograph. But how awful.

Oh what a shame that is, have you tried using blood meal? it is a fertilizer and deers don't like the smell.

Oh no!!! That's terrible!

The two you have left are lovely. I am so sorry that your marauders have stolen your spring loveliness. Venison for Easter?

It just kind of makes one madder in you know what! All that work just to feed the deer! I am so sorry your lovely tulips have been eaten.

I looked at your posts below and I must say the Jane magnolia is very pretty, as are the bluebirds. I had some nesting in my garden but have since noticed the sparrows drove them out. I don't know what to do about that. Sigh. Enjoy the day, it's might pretty here.

Thanks for visiting my birds blog.

I like your two striking and colorful photos of the deer's dinner. Nice. I think they somehow appreciate it.

Yep. They've eaten two of mine. The rest of them aren't tall enough yet. I need to get chicken wire, stat.

I forgot to mention that we started using Repellex spray and it worked wonderful but can't find it now. I called the nurseries and asked what they were selling the most of and what kind of comments they had on how well it worked and every one of them said Liquid Fence. We have tried everything from Irish Spring soap to human hair - I even had my hubby go potty on some of the flowers (lol) cause we heard that worked but none of these things did! The Liquid Fence seems to be working. They will still stroll through the property so we can enjoy seeing them but they don't seem to want to munch anymore. Need to go buy some more as I'm out right now. If you're not opposed to using a spray on your flowers ya might want to try it. I have too much money invested in flowers to let them come in here like it's a big salad bar that I made for them!

I love tulips but have given up planting new ones as my groundhogs love them. I'm going to load up on hyacinths this fall, which everyone leaves alone and I love equally well. Dang varmints!

Sorry to see that! Hope they at least the last remaining ones for you to enjoy.

Thanks so much for all of the suggestions to helping keep the deers away from the tulips.I will try a little of them all. I have tin pans up now but they will not doubt get use to them so I will also try the hair and liquid fence spray. To late for the tulips though. Do deers eat lilies? Since I have about 25 new lilies planted there also.
Happy Growing!
