Fields of Gold

"By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather
And autumn’s best of cheer."

These are lovely! Thank you for sharing them. The only comment I would make is that so many people don't realize that goldenrod pollen is NOT what causes them to sneeze. (I write about this regularly because i love goldenrod and it gets a bad rap around here.)

Beautiful golds, Lona! Have your leaves changed already? We're just seeing hints of colour here so far. Hasn't the Goldenrod been prolific this year? It's everywhere!

Lovely parting gesture shown by leaves before they take turns to fall as autumn is making its presence ... ~bangchik

Very striking photos. I can't wait until the quaking aspens on the nearby foothills all turn yellow, and the red maples all around the neighborhood go up in a blaze of reds. Almost makes me forget that cold, grey winter is so close.

Love those golden leaves! Your goldenrod looks exuberant! My goldenrod always falls around in the wind - we've had very high winds here earlier this week.

Jodi: I did not know that about Goldenrod. Interesting. My grandma use to love the goldenrod in the fields. So it is a sentimental wildflower for me.

Bren: The pictures were taken at Conkle's Hollow where the wild flowers are so pretty now.

Nancy: No, thank goodness the leaves have not changed here already. This was taken a few years ago and there was so many yellow leaves behind the house.

Bangchik: It is so pretty here in the hills when the leaves turn.

Darla:I know and I am not ready for fall to happen.I want more summer.

VW: I bet it is beautiful in the foothills in Fall. Get some pictures for us.

Phoenix, the goldenrod grows around here in all of the fields this time of year.Along with the purple ironweed it makes a field a bouquet.

Missy: Thank you. I have not saw them like that since I took the picture a few years ago. Maybe this year. So glad you dropped by.

Kanak: That is only the second Tiger Swallowtail that I have seen this summer and I had to go to the local state park to find that one.

Beautiful! I think I will try to get down your way in early October- love the way the leaves look. I haven't tried Conkle's Hollow yet, but maybe this year. I had been discouraged by reports on the ruggedness of the trails + didn't think I'd be up for it. Maybe this year, tho!

I let the goldenrod go wild in my front garden...which has been losing it's battle with nature, so might as well look pretty in the process ;)
