Annie Get The Gun

Behind the house there is a stand of Elderberries
and Poke berries that the birds just love to get
into. Since I do not do anything with the berries
it is good that they are getting put to some good use.
The birds are not the only ones that love the berries
the deers love them too. I do not even care if they eat
them because if they are eating them they are leaving
my flowers and shrubs alone.

Spotting this little lady hiding in the berries
or trying to but her greed for the berries and
how tasty they were soon had her out in the
open and not paying much attention to the
owner with the camera.

After eating all of the ones that were in reach
she went about stretching to get some more
that were higher up.

Now how do I reach those?

What you cannot reach by stretching you
can always just knock over.

Those are some very tasty poke berries.

They would be easier eating if you would
just turn around.
Talk about your lazy eating.

The berries on the green briers are not too bad
either.

When I was finally spotted taking the pictures
of the berry thief I get this look.

Then she had the audacity to tell me,
"I never touched a thing, it was the birds."

What great pictures. I have those berries too. They sure do like to pop up in my flower beds. Don't like them there but don't mind them on the rest of the property since the birds seem to like them so well.

Hi Lona~~ Your "guest" looks so innocent, even after being caught red-handed, or should I say red-hoofed. Such an innocent demeanor. It's kind of gratifying helping nature along, isn't it?

I didn't know deer ate poke berries. I think it was the birds, too. I was just thinking about the purple bird poop, and.... Deer probably do a better job of digesting.

Such a big deer. She looks like she is fed well too. We just have stray cats here coming into the house and fortunately they do not eat plants.

I didn't know the deer liked poke berries. Pokeweed is not common around here but the attitude of the deer seem to be the same every where. Who me? I didn't eat your stupid flowers.

Great capture of one in the act.

How cool that you got to capture this...at least she is leaving your flowers alone!!

She does look a little cheeky, doesn't she?

At least she left the other flowers alone.

What can I say, sometimes I get a silly streak. Hey, at my age I can even get by with it :-)

Taking those photos had to be fun and you are right I did play golf when I was in New York. Have a great day

Hahaha! You made me laugh with that last photo and comment. Beautiful photos of the deer...and all those berries are amazing. I've been slowly adding native berry bushes to my yard, but nothing beats wild-grown bushes!
