Pansies For Spring and Fall

After all of the flowers I added to the flower
beds this Fall, my pen money for flower buying
was beyond gone.
But who could resist these Pansies that were
for sell at a tent at the Bob Evans Festival.
I picked up three new beauties to go with one
I had purchased in the Spring.

They may have snow flakes on their little heads
this weekend.

Delta Pure Rose

Matrix Sunrise

And one from the Majestic Giant strand.

I learned to love these delicate looking but strong
bloomers this Spring.
They love the cool weather and tend to slow down or
stop blooming in the heat and hot sun of mid Summer.
This one was planted in the Spring and is
getting some new blooms from a couple of the plants
that were left alone and from where it reseeded.

Happy Autumn Gardening Everyone!

What gorgeous colours, Lona! Pansies are surely the darlings of the garden. :)

Hi Lona, Your pansies are most lovely and no one could resist them. Great up close shots of them. I hope the snow keeps them warm this weekend.

I was looking around and saw the post 'Don't Cry for the Horses'. It is a lovely poem and most beautiful statue. Glad you shared it.

The Matrix Sunrise is absolutely enchanting. Johnny jump-ups and pansies always make me smile with their funny little faces on such a demure plant. I thoroughly enjoyed looking at the photos. Thank you.

I never met a pansy I didn't like. When I was a child, Miss Ann and Miss Susan, maiden ladies, let me pick bouquets from their pansy beds. I had no idea that it was good to pick them to prolong bloom, I just thought they liked me and knew I loved the little pansy faces.

Now I've learned that violas fare better in our hot climate and bloom through the winter almost continuously. It's not quite time here to plant, but I do look forward to them. The purples are my fav, but the yellows make a better show at a distance. Love 'em!

I wouldn't resist, too. They are looking at us with their big eyes and ask us to take them home! And then, they thank us with these gorgeous blooms!

Those pansies just needed a home. And they look like they will be so happy in your garden of pansies. I'm cray about those guys too.

Pansies are sort of addicting. There are so many pretty choices now, and as you say they are tough too. You made great choices!

You know the names, I never get to see the varieties. Except for Beaconsfield, that is the only one I ever recognize.

I love pansies, great performers.

Lona,
Your blog is lovely. The deep pink pansies are my favorite. Great photos. Don't Cry for the Horses had me choking up! Very sweet and tender. Thanks for sharing.

I love that you are switching gears for autumn. I always run out of steam by this end of the growing season. In fact, I am ready to prune back everything and put it on the compost heap for the year. Maybe some pretty pansies would inspire me to keep gardening. Hmm, I don't know--it's gotten so cold already.

You are really tempting me with those pansies, especially the unique varieties you have. I was just wishing that I had planted more of them, especially after the freeze kills them tonight. I'm sad!
