Winter Comes Right On Time

It was bound to happen sooner or later but
it looks like winter has finally came to the
Hocking Hills Garden.

In the southeastern part of the state we got
more snow than our northern friends.
I wish I could send it to those up in Cleveland that
wanted it but they will eventually catch up and pass
us for snow fall amounts before winter is over.

I must confess that if we had to have snow we
were surely blessed with a beautiful one Saturday.

It was one of those great snowman making snows.
Wet and heavy sticking to everything and washing it
in white.

In the woods beside the house the snow covers
and sticks even to the sides of the trees.

The field across the house is just beautiful and
I only wish the sun was shining a little so the
pictures could have been lighter but even with
the cloudy skies all day yesterday and today I
could not stop snapping pictures.

The rododendron bushes have sagging branches
and it looks like my yellow Capistrano one has
broken off to the ground. It has been dying back for
the last two years and I can only hope it will send
sprouts up from it now.

The poor garden kids look cold and their hats
tell how deep the snow was on the ground.
Poor things, maybe I should have brought them
into the shed for winter , but they are still smiling.
Alright I know they're not real!

Even with all of the snow there are some things
that just refuse to give up and let go.

This maple leaf is hanging on and sways in
the winter breeze.

This was the only green besides the pines that I
could find around the house.

With all of the snow needless to say there
has been a run on the bird feeder.
Go to my other blog "Natures Scenic View"
to see some of the snow birds.

Snow

"There is nothing in the world more beautiful than the
forest clothed to its very hollows in snow. It is the
still ecstasy of nature, wherein every spray, every
blade of grass, every spire of reed, every intricacy of
twig, is clad with radiance."

So beautiful!!! Can I come stay with you for a few days?! :) We were working in the yard today since it was over 50 degrees in Arkansas, can you believe it? I would much rather experience what you are enjoying. Merry Christmas!

Beautiful photos! We got our first big snow fall today too. The first one is always gorgeous, but by February I'm done and praying for spring.

Your snowy wonderland is so beautiful. It would make a great post if you could create a post in the summer showing the same areas, but all green. I just love your garden children. The snow makes their hats look so tall.

I love the white blanket covering all the trees, Lona and your view looks very much like mine ;)
That statue is cute! Our snow was too light and fluffy for snowman building though...

Cindee: Thank you and You have a Very Merry Christmas.

Ellie: I am tired of the snow after Christmas so you hold out longer than I do ;-)
Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Plant Lady: I could live with all of the green but I guess if I never had the snow I would probably want it once in a while. Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Lynn: I wondered why you didn't have a snowman ;-)
Merry Christmas to you Lynn!

Oh, how cute! I love the chilly garden kids with their big snowy hats! Pretty photos and such a nice quote. I've been known to whine and complain about the winter but not this time of year. We all need a white Christmas! Happy Holidays, Lona!

Wow, you guys sure got a lot more snow than we did! We just had snow dust, and it's pretty much gone already. I'm not in favor of a white Christmas, because we always travel up to Michigan and I don't want to slip and slide on the roads.

A lovely series of photos, Lona; a little snow does indeed make things look lovely. And speaking of lovely, your Christmas header is fabulous.
If I don't get back here before the weekend, Happy Christmas to you and yours.
