Snowflakes

Snowflakes

"See the pretty snowflakes
Falling from the sky;
On the wall and housetops
Soft and thick they lie.

On the window ledges,
On the branches bare;
Now how fast they gather,
Filling all the air.

Look into the garden,
Where the grass was green;
Covered by the snowflakes,
Not a blade is seen."

Your photos are almost magical. I love the three cardinals standing out in the cold. The bright red of the males contrast so well with the white snow. I have never seen a snowflake in person and imagine it is hard to capture them in a photo? So beautiful!

Great pics. Hope the snow is not too bad. jim

The cardinals feeding in your yard look almost as cheery as your red roses. Almost. My garden color is goldfinch yellow right now.

Lovely snowflake closeups Lona, but I've had enough of the "pretty" snow! Hey, thanks so much for the tickets, they arrived safe and sound. Can't wait to go!

Lona~~ This poem reminds me of a quote I saw just today. I can't remember it verbatim but it went something like, "I don't mind the snow. It's the only time my lawn looks as good as my neighbor's"

Just look at your sweet bird visitors. They're just precious.

If you're slow on the uptake then you're a kindred spirit in more ways than just gardening. LOL The bowling ball has been there for a few years. I got it at a garage sale. I've never used it but I could since the finger size and weight seem perfect. Nah...

'Harlequin' Hydrangea looks identical to 'Buttons & Bows' as far as I can tell. I think it's marketing.

Stay warm, girlfriend.

Oops. I almost forgot, Lona. I'm completely obsessed with clip art right now and I just wanted to compliment you on your sidebar watering can. Very cool. If you don't mind sharing secrets, maybe we can trade sources.

What great pictures of the snowflakes, you can really see each individual one in the 4th picture.
Looks like you have many, many snowflakes there.

Darla: Please girl send some warm weather up this way. LOL!

Cindee: We have been getting hammered here but not like Virginia and farther east.It doesn't look like we are going to get any relief from it either. Ugh!

Peggy: Thanks and thanks for dropping by.Not much gardening going on I am afraid. ;-)

Amy;Thank you and thanks for visiting this old snow blog. LOL!

Noelle: Those red Cardinal just make beautiful spots of ed against this white snow. At least there is some color in the garden. ;-)

Jim: Are we tired of this yet Jim? I wish I could send it all to the Olympics.

Pogonip: Goldfinches are so pretty too. I love them in the summer when they have their bright yellow feathers.

Kiki: The birds are the only action going on here right now.I am afraid everyone is going to get tired of snow and bird pictures.

Robin: you are quiet welcome. Just have a blast!

Grace: LOL! That is a good one. All this snow tends to make even the worst yard look pretty. I have noticed different nurseries have different names for the same flowers. I forgot where I got the clip art I have had it for years but I will try to find it for you.

Catherine: So many snow flakes and only one shovel LOL!

Bren: I think we are planning to go to the Garden show on Friday March 5th.No more opening days for me.I like to take pictures and the crowds are something on opening weekend.

Debbie: Hey girl I bet you have go gobs of snow too. Are we ready for spring yet? ;-)

Muhammad: Thank you so much and thanks for dropping by. I would rather be showing off some flowers though. ;-)

Janet: The problem is I do not have a steady hand or the pictures would have been a little better. The lighting is all wrong now for good pictures, too cloudy.

Balisha: I thought your valentine tree was the cutest!

FlowerLady: Thank you. I am ready for my flowers to bloom. Love your cottage flowers. I so need your roses now. LOL!

What a sweet treat on this cold, dreary morning. I'm in love with your cardinals. Wish they would come visit me some time. Gorgeous photos, Lona, and I enjoy the music, too. :)

Baby it's cold here. This Ozarks farm chick is lovin' your header. I have 38 rose bushes in my acre of gardens and yard her on the Ponderosa. I'm quite jealous of your very beautiful snow pics. Do ya see me...I'm turnin' an awful shade of green! Heeeheehe!

From the snowy hills and hollers of Missouri, ya'll have a wonderfully blessed day!!!

Lona said...

Marnie: Thanks so much. They are a bright spot in winter.

Kate: I really need your snow shoes lady. LOL!

Nezzy: Now I am jealous with you having so many roses. Wow! Hey, I would gladly send all of this snow to your free of charge if I could.Thanks for dropping by!

Amazing how you made the snow and ice look so pretty. I don't want to walk around in the 20 plus inches of snow...your shots do inspire me.

Lona - thanks for the amazing snow photos. So nice of the cardinals to oblige you! We've had 4 feet in less than a week here in Philadelphia...come on over and check out more snow photos if you can bear more snow photos! Kelly

I love your snow crystal photos Lona, how did you get them so wonderfully clear and visible? I have a macro lens but haven't mastered photos like that yet...although, many of my photos get uploaded to my computer files and I don't see them. I take so many...and it's hard to see certain things unless I crop and then enlarge. Plus, with the need for reading glasses, if they aren't on I will miss it! Anyway, the snow is 'old' for you by now but there is beauty in it, just the same! And the birds, well, we are kindred spirits in that regard;-)

Stunning post Lona, and I was suprised by your beautiful and soothing music. I usually have my volume on 'mute', but might leave it on for more plesant surprises. :) Rebecca
