Add Some Bloomin' Achillea to Your Garden

I love the yarrows that are out right now. There are just
so many wonderful colors that will blend right into any
garden. The little winged insects love them so they are
very beneficial and best of all the deer will not eat them.
So for “ Bloomin’ Tuesday ” sponsored by Jean over at
Ms. Green Thumb I will show some of the achillea or
Yarrow that I have around in my garden.
Why not add some in your garden too.

This is also a lighter yellow and is new and has not
bloomed as yet but it is growing very well.

Achillea_White

White Yarrow
This white one came from some wild flower seeds.
Its stems are weaker and it tends to lay  down.

We are getting a few light showers today here in the
hills which is welcome. While parts of the state have been
dumped on we are getting very little. The garden will welcome
what ever comes our way along with adding more water to
the rain barrel and cistern.

Happy Gardening Everyone !!

Achillea is so pretty! As usual, I'm attracted to the pink, but your Apricot Delight is simply stunning.

Here's hoping your garden gets a shower today!

I adore your yarrow. Gorgeous colors. I gotta find some seeds of those. All I have is plain white. It does look pretty paired with a pretty dwarf blue cornflower tho.

Wow you have a lot of yarrow. I like your pinks but I really like moonshine yellow.

Yarrow is a great plant for my dry garden. Must look for Apricot Delight, would look nice with the yellow I have.

I have Summerwine growing along my back gate, and it kind of spills through the rungs of the gate when open. I used to try to keep it upright but I finally gave up and let it spill through the openings. I think I like it this way.

You have so many varieties! I had Moonshine and a pink one in my previous garden.

Your header is just beautiful!!!

I like yarrow too. So far haven't found one that outblooms the old moonshine--in my garden anyway.

I'm so glad you did a post on Yarrow, because I have been meaning to find out more about why my Yarrow will not grow vertically. Any idea on why my Yarrow would lay on its side? It looks great, but I want vertical blooms!

You have so many pretty varieties! I love the pinks. The foliage on yours seems much finer than the yellow one I have.
Glad you're getting some rain. We had a little yesterday, and now I'm hoping that we see some sun again :)

Do you need to trim, shear, or deadhead the Apricot Delight after awhile? Mine has been stuck for awhile with the same washed out blooms, and the middle is kind of dried out looking.

Apricot Delight is truly delightful. You know it's high summer when the yarrow is blooming. Lovely (as usual)

I must move mine...too much water and not enough sun where they are located right now. Yours are so pretty and delicate looking.

Your web site is very nice... beautiful photos! I especially like the header!
In response to your question on my site, yes the orienpets are sometimes marketed as lily trees. Some reach 3-4' while others can get up to 8'... frequently they don't need staking but some of mine do need to be staked. The fragrance is amazing and fills the yard. They are a cross between the orientals and trumpet lilies, the former providing fragrance and the latter providing height. Larry

My yarrows are also in full bloom now, Lona. Some of them have gotten way too tall. I think next year I need to pinch or cut them back in say, late May to keep them shorter. You're so right about them mingling well with their neighbors.

They are so pretty and look so delicate with their ferny foliage. They flop all over the place in my garden - well they used to - they didn't survive the winter which surprised me. We have them growing wild all around me in white just now.

Summer is such a great season for gardeners. Even these pretty little flowers come in many colours and they are lovely.

Lona you have quite a collection of Yarrows and very pretty too. I just started mine thanks to some that Sweet Bay sent me. It is gorgeous and I can't believe how fast it grew and made babies that are blooming already too. I love it. It's a hot pink and apparently I put all 3 of them in the right places because they all seem pretty happy!
