Bloomin’ Tuesday Flowers

Hello Everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful
weekend.
This coming weekend there are two festivals
being held here in Ohio, the Bob Evans Farm Festival
and the Sauerkraut Festival. We like to attend the Bob
Evans Festival every October and see all of crafts on
display. The Sauerkraut Festival is a new one to us
which we will attend at Waynesville. There are suppose
to be around 450 artisans there so we are excited to
attend this one. I will try to get some pictures to
share with you all. The weather is suppose to be nice
and sunny for both events so  maybe we won’t have to
be worried about getting stuck in the mud in some field
where we park this year.

BloomingTuesday_Button

For Bloomin’ Tuesday with Jean  at Ms. Green Thumb
I only have a few blooms to share. The blooms are getting
fewer and fewer all of the time.

ABlack_Rose

The Almost Black rose is still finishing up with a bloom or two.

ABlackRose2

She is a beauty and I have enjoyed it this year.

Rose_Finale

Iceberg Rose with Almost Black rose in the back ground.

Iceberg_Tint

The Iceberg rose blooms are getting a pink tinge to
them now as they are waning.

Anemone_PartyDress_1
Party Dress

The Anemones are still in bloom with exception
of Queen Charlotte which blooms earlier than my
others. She is done blooming and her seed pods have
been scattered in the Woodland bed in hopes of
getting some new plants started there next summer.

AnemoneSnakeroot_Bouquet

I am so enjoying the Chocolate Snakeroot
plants this Fall to help brighten up what would
be a dreary garden. Margarete anemone looks
so pretty against the Snakeroots dark foliage
and white fuzzy blooms.

Chocolate Snakeroot

CrimsonBouquet_Last
Crimson Bouquet roses are done blooming for the year.

SummerHeart
The baskets of Impatiens leaves are turning yellow
from the cold nights we have had lately.

ThruTheFence

The Fancy Dress petunias blooming in the container
on the other side of the decorative corner fence are
about done also. It has had such a variety of colored
blooms this summer.

Caladiums2

The Caldiums will soon be cut off and taken to
the basement for the winter.

chasteTree

The two little Chaste trees that I started from seed
this summer will also have to be set in the basement
for the winter. I do not think they will stand up to
our winters but I think I will leave out the two
Yellow Bell bushes that were started from seed to
see if they can handle it.
If not I have more seeds and will try again next
spring.

Blue_Asters2

A few little Asters are blooming yet.
Spindly as they are and on the ground.
Does anyone know if you should pinch
them back in the summer like we do
the Mums?

 Agastache_Rositablooms

Agastache Rosita is just now starting to
grow and spread out so she may look better
next summer.

Gerbera2

The yellow Gerbera Daisy was repotted and brought
into the house to spend the winter.

This basket of Alyssum and Geraniums were brought
up onto the porch from the frost but will be let go of
when the cold weather hits.

Geranium_Pot

Along with a few of the other pots of geraniums
and alyssum stuck around in the beds.

Caryopteris_FirstChoice3

The caryopteris First Choice Blue Mist
shrub has finished its blooming now.
For its first year of blooming I really have
loved its blue blooms.

SweetAutumn

My tiny Sweet Autumn clematis has
finished blooming already. It should be
even better next Fall .

MEveline_MorningSun

Mary Eveline Dahlia will have to be cut back
soon and the bulbs taken up.

White_Nicotiana

The Nicotiana plants have bloomed all summer and
into fall with some deadheading to encourage them.

RedNicotiana

So has the red Nicotiana but both will soon be taken
no doubt by frosts.
 Margaret_CSnakeroot

That is about all I have to share for Bloomin’ Tuesday.

Happy Gardening Everyone &
Until Next Time.

I say you have quite a bit still going on around your gardens. Love, love the petunia!

You sure do have a lot of wintering to do for your gardens. I guess you get used to it if you want to have some pretty gardens. You have some gorgeous gardens Lona. Hate to see them fade off as winter comes.

Lona, it does take a couple of years for Rosita to fill out. It is a more delicate Agastache, very pretty when full. You still have a lot going, I have a few things still going but not much.

Hi Lona~~ Artisans? Ooh, methinks you might find something cute and eye catching for the garden?

We're having chilly nights too.

I love the similar veining on 'Fancy Dress' petunia and the caladiums. I wonder how you can get them in a color echo with one preferring sun and one preferring shade... hmm...

Just beautiful!

Just lovely! I'd say you have more than enough to share. I especially like the impatiens in the heart-shaped basket. I always cut the asters all the way back in the spring, but some of them do need to be propped up. Have a great time at both your festivals.

I plan to go to the Sauerkraut festival this weekend too! My gardens are about done as yours is.
I am already planning for spring.
Happy fall - Margy in KY

You still have lots of flowers in your garden! When does fall actually start in your part of the world?
There are a few flowers that I've never seen or heard of before. I especially like the Caldiums and the Fancy Dress Petunia. My 72 year old father will probably also love the Petunia - the brighter the better!

You have lots of beautiful blooms left to enjoy. We had a frost the other night and most of the annuals are now finished.

You still have a lot going on in your garden. The Snakeroot does add nice fall interest. I'll have to check into that. The Almost Black rose is lovely! I has to be my favorite. Jean

Wow, you still have so many lovely blooms in your garden this autumn. They are so colourful and your photos bring out the best in them. I certainly look forward to your festival pictures next time.

Oh my, your garden looks wonderful. Frost has killed most of my annuals and the roses are all finished. Take care and happy gardening.

I saw your comment about The Sauerkraut Festival over at Prims From Above...and just wanted to let you know that I've had a booth at this show for 22 years now and yes, there really is tons of craft booths. You will love this show!! There are booths from one end of the village to the other end...all along Main street and some on a few of the side streets. They say that about 200,000 to 300,000 people come to this show over the weekend...I believe it, because when I step out of my booth and look up the road, all you see is a "sea" of people!!
Hope you have lots of fun there!!

So many fantastic blooms ... despite what you say about the blooms getting fewer and fewer. Love the Almost Black rose and the Iceberg ... what a fabulous pair. Lovely Anemones and your Caladium is spectacular!

Over-wintering is not something we do here, of course, but I do have to take a few of my potted plants in out of the heat and humidity during our Summer ... they live in the slightly cooler Greenhouse/Shadehouse Garden for a while.

Hello Lona, the yellow gerbera looks like a sunflower. Your fancy dress petunia and the caladium are so outstanding. Love the red/pink marking in the centre. The colours are very unusual. Happy storing them :-D

Such a lovely parade of flowers. Love that deep pink rose that you opened with.I keep seeing that Sweet Autumn clematis on different blogs and really want to get one for my garden. So pretty! The snakeroot is also beautifully delicate.

Wow, I really like the variety of colouring in the blooms of Party Dress, I will look for it next year...Terrific picture through the decorative fence, great minds think alike ;).

Lona, your petunia is lovely and the impatiens in the basket on the tree is such a beautiful idea, even though they're "done" for the year. Beautiful blooms!

Your photos are amazing. Love the baskets of impatiens. What a wonderful idea!

Hi Lona.
I'm in love with the Chocolate snakeroot and pink anemone combination. I just bought one and now you've given me an idea of where it needs to be!
I'm thinking we do need to pinch our asters back ~ mine are spindly too. :-( I want those big, full, lush, bushes!
Isn't it great to still have so much happening in the garden? I hope the frost holds off for a week or two longer.
PS Those petunias are great. I like the bi-color ones so much. Hope to find more next year.

Dear Lona, A sauerkraut festival in the USA sounds most extraordinary since I should normally associate this with Germany. I shall look forward to reading what was on display.

A lovely display of flowers for this late in the season and I think that the Alyssum and Pelargoniums in the basket look particularly attractive.

Your 'Party Dress' anemone--it's NOT NODDING! (I was going to say it's facing up... but it isn't quite.) That's still better than ANY of mine do, though. What's your secret?

There have been a few people up here who have planted chaste trees with mixed results. I think that if you want to give one a try down there, you're better off to plant it in the spring... I'll see whether I can get some updates from my friends around here for you, if you're interested in knowing. They would either be in zone 6 or 5, depending on their proximity to the lake.

Lona, I would say you have a lot going on in your October gardens! I love snakeroot but mine never bloomed this year--and I'm not sure why. Last year was my first year with Caryopteris, when I planted 4 bushes. They bloomed this year but didn't seem to be as deep blue or last as long as it did last year. Before I knew it there were no more blooms & I had only taken a couple of photos. We are having 'the perfect weekend' right now--70's and sunny--and we plan to take a nice bike ride tomorrow. Have a great weekend:-)

Lona, your photos and flowers are all beautiful, but the first few of the roses... exceptionally nice.
