Gingerbread Houses At Franklin Park Conservatory

Hello everyone! This has been a snowy and cold
week here in the Hills. Maybe not as snowy as
it has been for those blogging buddies up around
the lake and Cleveland though. Everyone take care
up north.

FPC2
I wanted to show some more pictures taken at the Franklin Park Conservatory on our visit last week. Keeping with the
“ Merry & Bright'” theme at the Conservatory they had held a Gingerbread House making contest for the children. Those were some talented children and they made some fantastic looking houses.

One familiar figure among the Gingerbread Houses was Charlie Brown and his Christmas tree.

Doesn’t these houses and trimmings just get
you into the Christmas spirit? They made such a
festive display in the basement of the Conservatory.

This one must have included all of their favorites things along with the puppy. Hamburgers? I admit I love them
too. LOL!  The gumdrop tree looks yummy.

Kids_Grinch_Dec2

The Grinch. This must be after he saw the error of his ways and returned  all of the Christmas back to Whoville.
I have to admit I was never a fan of Dr. Seuss so I may
have this one all wrong.

This one of Worthington Inn won a Blue Ribbon.
Look at all of the detail on it. All those beautiful
leaves and flowers.

And then there were a few that were made by
the adults representing  Currier and Ives pictures.

I just loved this one. I could live there. Well come to
think of it it does resemble my home. Minus the sleigh.

CurrierIves3_Gingerbread_Dec2

All decked out with a snowman and even a little
red Cardinal on the fence.

Or maybe a little cottage is your style. The snowman
was either  melting or he had lost his head because
his hat and nose were in the snow. Looks like ours
right after the boy cousins took a broom and whacked
the head off of us girl cousins snowman. Yes, that is it,
because that has to be Grandma in the door telling us
to behave ourselves.

Around the grounds of the Conservatory grasses blew
and shone in the sun….

sparkling with their feathery  heads.

Everyone have a good weekend coming up.
It looks like we are going to have a very messy one
here in the hills with rain and snow. I just hope it
all does not turn to ice.
Happy Gardening,
Lona

How very sweet and creative are those little gingerbread houses but those shots of the grasses are just unbelievable girl! You have quite the talented eye there.

God bless ya and have a most splendid day sweetie!!!

Hi Lona, how awesome! They looked like done by professionals, not children. I now remember my little collection of those temperate houses before. You seem to be real cold there, while here we now are at our best temps of 23-25C. This is just the effect of the cold front coming from the Siberian peninsula, which will last till early Feb. BTW, your photos are really awesome too. thanks for visiting mine as well.

The talent of these Children is admirable. I come from a different culture but in my childhood I had a good enough exposure of Enid Blyton, and other Children's literature from west. I have always been enamored by the beautiful houses and Christmas decoration. It is the first time that I saw, what I had read years back, in 3D models...Beautiful!

The gingerbread houses look so festive & creative! What a great day out. We haven't any events like that happening in Northern Ireland. Although this year, our stores are stocking the gingerbread house making kits (the first time I've seen them here). America is such a festive place this time of year. Thanks for sharing your photos, Kelli.

Lona, those little houses are
wonderful. I know firsthand they are not that easy to make, lots of leaning walls and stickiness.

WoW! Those gingerbread houses are something! It's hard to believe they were made by children. I'll bet the judges had a hard time deciding whose was better. I know I wouldn't be able to make a house like any of those. And the adult ones are spectacular - I can't believe the one with the hundreds of tiny icicles lining the roof. What a lot of tedious work.
Great post I really enjoyed it.

What spicy charmer those gingerbread houses are. I keep telling myself some day I'll give it a try.

The frost on the grasses looks so fairy tale like.

We've been lucky up here in northwest Ohio, the storms have gone on either side and to the north or south. I'm hoping we're so lucky this weekend.

Stay cozy!

Hi Lona, Yours takes the prize for the prettiest Christmas blog. Seriously inspiring, my dear. Love the header photos and the template.

I wish had the patience to do a gingerbread house. I love the one that resembles your home. Kudos to the kids who did them.

Here I am a member of the FPC, and I've never been there at Christmas time! Between my job, the three choirs that I sing with, and all the rest of the holiday preparations, I never even get to enjoy Christmas. My poor blog is getting neglected too!

My little neighbor came by this evening and gave me a Gingerbread House that she made herself, she is only 8yrs old. It wasn't as fancy as those above, but what a sweet gift, I loved it!

I was randomly flipping through blogs, and yours came up. What a pleasant surprise! I grew up in Lancaster, and Old Man's Cave is one of my favorite places to visit! I've never seen it in the winter though,as our visits are during milder weather! Thanks for the post and the beautiful photos!
