A Story Book Christmas at the Franklin Park Conservatory, Etc.

First of all I want to thank all of you for your
well wishes, kind thoughts and prayers for
my daughter Shelly. The tests said that the
mole was benign and not a melanoma cancer
so I am one thankful Momma today.
I want you to know I appreciate more than
you can ever know for your support. I know
I can always count on you so thank you from
the bottom of my heart.

For those who may have followed my blog for a while
you may remember these pictures of the train display
at the Franklin Park Conservatory from last February.
The train display was brought up to the entrance
for the “Merry& Bright” displays for the
holidays with an all new festive look.

DisneyTrain_Dec2

Now it is all decked out with Poinsettias and
seed light twigs for a Story Book Christmas display.

DTrain_RedRidingHood_Dec2

Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf have a
little cottage in the display. The Wolf did not
look to fierce in the dress so no children were
frightened by him.

DTrain_ThreePigs_Dec2

The Three Little Pigs still had their homes intact.
We watched one little girl with her eyes so bright
walking around and taking everything in and she
was loving finding all of the little treasures and
watching the trains.

Disney2_Train_Dec2

The display had this cute little red trolley just flying
around the display and through the tunnels.
I couldn’t for the life of me get a picture of the thing.
All I got were blurs. LOL!

BananaPlant_Dec2

A Banana Plant Musa acuminata was growing
on this visit. It is an green stemmed plant which
never forms woody tissue. Each stem blooms
and produces fruit only once; it then dies and is
replaced by a new offshoot.

Berries3_Dec2

Near the front entrance bushes of red berries adds
color to the grounds on a bleak cold day.

While indoors some of the Chihuly glass displays were
dressed with Poinsettias for a Holiday feel.

C_Glass2_Ded2

Some of the passage ways were lit  up with mini
lights on the archways.

CrownofThorns2_Dec2

A Crown of Thorns Euphorbia splendens  was in bloom.
A wicked and beautiful looking plant all wrapped up in
one package.

CrownofThorns_Dec2

With blooms like these what is a little finger stick or okay maybe ten.

Orange_Tree_Dec2

Orange trees and….

Lemon_Tree_Dec2

Meyer Lemon trees were bearing fruit.

LemonTree2_Dec2

This was our third trip to the Franklin Park Conservatory
but I would love to go and visit there at night when the
conservatory is all lit up.

FranklinParkCons_NightLights
Wouldn’t it be beautiful for a night visit?

Just in time with more snow moving in every

Thank you so much for visiting my little blog

Lona, I've missed the your posts just recently and obviously missed your worrying time just past. I'm so glad that the news is good news ... what a relief! I bet you and yours will be celebrating Christmas with extra joy this season!

Enjoyed your tour through the Franklin Park Conservatory again ... I do remember the last visit! It looks like a must-see spot ... and that Chihuly glass display is just magnificent.

Wishing you and all your family a very merry Christmas!

Thank goodness for good news. So glad for all of you Lona.
Congrats on winning the Snow Blower too! That is a terrific prize. It also sounds pretty timely if you are getting snow every other day!
Your tour of the conservatory is gorgeous. I agree it would be beautiful at night. Our Botanic Gardens has a "blossoms of light" show during the holidays that I am hoping to catch this year. Happy holidays to you and your family.

Glad your daughter is ok.. I haven't been to the conservatory for a couple years. On a snowy day like today it would sure be a great place to be LOL. Have you ever started Calla lilies from seed? I've been trying but no luck so far

Lona,

As the kids say, "I'm soooo not ready" for Christmas. My left hand is covered in magnetic paint, my hair in white paint, and my leg in a little of both. I can't find the wrapping paper and have forgotten who I have gifts for already. Actually, sans the paint, this sounds a bit like every Christmas for me....

I'm so glad your daughter's health scare turned out to be just that, a scare! I'm finally catching up on blogs a bit after a crazy Christmas. Glad it's over to be honest, although our wine party is tomorrow night. It's one of my favorite parts of the holiday season! Hope yours was happy. I forgot to tell you the name of my lavender rose, it's called Angel Face, and smells very fragrant too.
