What a beautiful week it has turned out to be. Rains to help the gardens also brought in some cooler temps. Hey we can live with this. LOL!
The Japanese Anemones are starting to bud But something is eating the foliage to pieces on them and the Chocolate Snakeroot Eupatorium is growing tall now and will be setting on buds.
The ‘Bright Star’ Echinacea is still looking good.
A new Echinacea ‘Green Envy” has its first bloom.
A few new blooms are opening on the Cardinal Flower or Red Lobelia
And “Monet's Moment’ Cardinal Flower is still opening its blooms.
Even the “Pow Wow Wildberry’ Echinacea that I disliked when it first started blooming has put on loads of blooms is looking better now.
David’s Lavender Phlox
The Valerian or Jupiter's Beard is getting a few more blooms since it was deadheaded.
So as July draws to a close this is what is going on in my gardens.

I hate to see July end as it was a good month in my garden.
My cardinal flower is not blooming yet. I am disappointed as when I bought it last year, it bloomed from June through September. I had no idea that was because it was probably forced so they could sell it...it worked as I bought three plants. LOL.
Your 'Monet's Moment' is such a pretty pink color. I have never seen that one before.
I hope August brings us both some interesting garden blooms.

I for one am sad to see July go. To me, August is like a turning point. Gone are the fresh, exciting garden days when something new to behold is evident every day. With August, things start turning tired and brown. But I'm not ready to be tired yet. :)
Your Phlox is amazing. I have David's white variety and I love it.
I'm glad the weather has cooled down for you. Hopefully things will stay mild from here on out.
Time is just getting on by down here in Florida too, :) My garden has some nibblers for the end of July too.
I think your garden must be a riot of color. You have such a wonderful variety of blooms. Is your Valerian fragrant? I know the white one is...love your pink/purple one.
Lona, the rain can do the magic! I love your red lobelia, I have only blue and white, I'll try to find like yours!

Ack, Lona, more plants to go on my must have list. I forgot that I left my Japanese annemones behind, how could I do that?
And the eupatorium....never had any, need some like right now!

My David Lavender looks a little sparse, but it is the first year. My coneflowers look at little ratty from the heat. Yours look great. We will sure know what to plant next year!

Glad you are getting some rain Lona and that your garden is perking up. It looks good to me. I can never get enough of 'Monets Moment' Lobelia. Maybe I'll have to try it one more time!! I like that bird obelisk too ~ so cute!
Maybe because you have a little more shade up there in the hills, but you don't seem to be struggling with the drought as much as I am. My house is fairly new, with only baby trees around it, so there is very little in the way of shade. All day long everything just cooks! I've vowed not to plant anymore thirsties!
Just love the “Pow Wow Wildberry’ Echinacea, I'm going to add this one to my garden....
