Lily Fest 2012 opens this weekend in the hocking Hills starting tomorrow, Friday July 13th and runs through Sunday July 15th. The hours are as follows:
Friday, July 13 - 11:00 am - 7:00 pm
Saturday, July 14 - 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Sunday, July 15 - 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
My daughter and I are attending tomorrow. They are calling for rain this weekend but since we need it here so badly I am sure everyone will not mind walking around the gardens with their umbrella’s and looking at the beautiful gardens. There are no shelters there so bring those umbrellas along just in case.
Parking is available at the entrance to the gardens. Visitors with disabilities will be driven from the parking lot to the gardens in golf carts.
Please were appropriate shoes for walking.

The event itself is the brainchild of Bobbi Bishop and here late husband, Bruce, who sought to teach the value of gardening and being outdoors. The land has been donated to the Local Hocking Hills School District for labs.
This will be the 21st anniversary for the Lily Fest.
Areas and plots of the gardens are kept up by local volunteers.
New this year will be its first Japanese Garden. The garden is the work of 17 year old Hannah Taulbee.
I am anxious to see what she has created.
But there are more than just lilies at the gardens and I always love looking at the Lotus blossoms.
Pieces of garden art by local artisans are on display throughout the gardens…
and there is always the pieces of whimsy displayed there.
I hope to see some of you there.
Happy Gardening,
Lona

Wow Lona, this sounds like a great event and display of plants. I bought a day lily this year that looks a little like the first photo, I think mine is called Always Afternoon.
Lovely photos Lona. Hoping for that rain this weekend. Won't end the drought but at least is a little real rain. Have a nice time tomorrow.

Lona, it's pity I wont be able to come to Lily fest :0((, but I hope you'll tell about the fest in your post.
Of course, I adore your Lilies...but OMG...what I wouldn't do for a pond with some Lotus!!!
Sounds fun! I hope you have a great time (and that some rain comes your way!)
Wow, those are amazing pictures and some lovely blooms. Really love all the colour variations. Thank. LT
Hi Lona, this must be the weekend for garden walks. There are three major ones scheduled for our area this weekend, too.
I'd love to attend your walk, though. That Japanese garden is just calling my name. Can't wait to see your pictures of it. Love the daylily photos, so much beauty!
Lona,
You have the greatest fests and fairs in your area. I sure would love to be at this Daylily fest, could always find room for one more!

I bet it is incredible with all the daylilies in bloom! I hope you and your daughter have a great time, and that the rain doesn't dampen your trip.
What a splendid idea. I'm so envious. I can just imagine how great it would be. If my kindred EMGs are involved, I'm- sure it runs smoothly. Went to OSU Short Course on business years ago. Blew my young mind.
Lona!
Your lilies are wonderful shapes and colors.
Other flowers are also wonderful!

How wonderful photos of the lilies you have! I hope I could participate, but I'm so far away from you here in Finland.
If you are interested in seeing how a Finnish garden look like, you can visit my blog.

All your lilies look super cheerful. Have fun at the lily fest. My daylilies are blooming well right now - it's fun to finally have a big show after a few years of waiting for plants to grow.
What a great opportunity to have this festival.
those shovel heads are lots of fun, love the colors!
