Hellebores in Bloom

We are having a few snow showers today so I am running around snapping a couple of pictures before the Hellebores get covered over again.

Hellebore_Heritage_Red
This lovely came in a Heritage Mixture I bought a few years ago so I do no know its name. If anyone has this one I would appreciate the help.

I love any plant that can give me blooms in February and stand up to being covered with snow and still look pretty.

I never even knew about these beauties with their drooping heads until I started garden blogging in 2007.
My, I have been here a while. LOL!
If you would like more information on the plants they have their won organization here:

I also scattered in some Poppy seeds this morning hoping the weather will still cause stratification of the seeds. I am hoping they will grow for me because  I  saw some while  on vacation last summer while touring the Oak Ridge Estate in  Virginia.

The Fancy Feather poppy blooms were so lovely in their cutting garden.

Also I want to “Flaunt these Blooms along with “Fertilizer Friday” over at “Tootsie Time” with our hostess Glenda.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and

Happy Gardening,

Your hellebores are oh so lovely. Wish I could grow them here, but alas, this is a tropical climate.

Have a nice weekend ~ FlowerLady

Bring on Spring!!! That's my motto right now:)

Got a few blooms here too.I wish I could help you out with the names. When I started gardening, names were not important and I tossed out the tags. Now I could kick myself for doing that.

I can't believe you have flowers blooming, don't think we are anywhere near that yet. However, maybe I had better take a look at the few hellebores I have.

Looks like the Hellebores are blooming everywhere now. They are such pretty blooms. We got the snow flurries but nothing serious here at all, just spots in the grass.

You really have helleboruses already in bloom, wow !! We here in Finland have still about 20 cm snow, and my helleboruses are sleeping under snow. Beautiful and wonderful plants, love them ! Hope your helleboruses are doing well despite new snow !

I love your fancy feather poppy! The red Hellebore is a beauty too. I have lots of Hellebores, but not this one, the round shape of the flower is a "must have". Winter also has not yet left us, some snow and for a change hail showers.

Hi Lona, I learned of hellebores from blogging too, it's a small world, isn't it? I don't think mine are blooming yet, at least I hope not since we are supposed to go below zero for a few nights. I have one lonely hellebore in my garden, time to add more!

Have a great weekend, Lona!

Lona - good to see all the Hellebores blooming. Your photos are always a delight. I don't believe spring is anywhere close, here. I'm really looking forward to a few milder days.

The cold has really gotten to me this year, and I have nearly become a hermit! I don't even know if my hellebores have buds! I do know they are a later bloomer, so I doubt it. But lucky you to have them already.

Could they be the 'Royal Heritage' strain? They were popular in catalogs? I have a few and they are lovely but still hidden beneath the snow!

Lona girl !!
You are so lucky to see flowers from your hellebore already !
We have been stuck in bad winter weather so there is no snooping around the garden for me .. it is useless .. but I love seeing yours girl : ) I have Royal Heritage Strain too and I swear this year I will put those plant markers out for the ones I do know so I can spot the flowers of the ones I forgot which are which (rather embarrassing eh ? some gardener I am?LOL) .. but they really do bring on that excitement of Spring coming eh?
Great post girl .. you got me going! hahaha

Getting my Helebore fix from your blog...and so pretty.

I didn't know that the poppies needed to be cooled? I usually plant those in late April...

I discovered hellebores blogging, too, and they are one of my favorites. I don't know which is which. I hope your poppies grow.
