Prairie Peddler Festival 2008

The 2008 Prairie Peddler Festival was held over
the weekend, October 4-5.
This was my first year to attend and I was quite
pleased with the whole Festival.
It is held in Butler, Ohio in the Mohican State Park
area.
The weather was a little cool in the morning but it
turned out to be a beautiful Fall day and just right for
strolling around.
There were endless displays of crafts from every
medium, craftsman showing their talent for
working with iron and wood carving.
Even a covered wagon was on the site.

Fall displays of crafts and plants were everywhere.
Open fire cooked foods were sold in abundance and
the smells were delicious.
A petting zoo of farm animals was in the park for
the children.

The stuffed scarecrow displayed sitting on a tree
stump was so authentic looking. It was however
still a shock when it moved to look at you.
I noticed that we were not the only ones to jump
and squeal.

The Prairie Peddler Festival was very similar to the
Backwoods Festival that we had attended last month.

The leaves are just starting to change their colors here
in the Hocking Hills Park area, but the leaves in the
northern part of Ohio at the Mochican State Park had
more color in display.
I recommend folks to attend if they enjoy the great
outdoors and love crafts and gardening. You will not
be disappointed.

Wood Carved Welcome Bench

Three Foot Tall Wood Carved Gnome

Wood Carved Mountain Man

Iron Forging

Wood Crafted Fall Fences

Wood Crafted Flower Baskets

Mum's Displayed in Abundance

Grasses and Kale

And of course Pumpkins!

These were a new brand of Pumpkin that I had
never saw before and there was no name written on
them or the container. They were the most gorgeous
orange-red color, large, but flatter in shape.

Next Weekend is the 38th Bob Evan's Farm Festival at Rio Grande,
Ohio and we hope to attend. It has been years since I have
attended so I am anxious to see the changes since the last
time we attended. The leaves should also have more color
so maybe we can get some great pictures.
