Some Hyacinths Are Starting to Bloom

Some of the Hyacinths are starting to bloom now and
other just budding. While the tulips are about half way
there till blooms began.
Today is such a nasty spring day here in the Hills.
Give me a few warm days and I am already spoiled
even though reality says we would still be in for some
cool rainy days ahead and possible snow yet.
We need are March and April showers to help everything
grow so I will just have to get over it.
Besides March is just about gone now.

Pretty in Purple or Blue

What a lovely hyacinth, Lona, beautiful colour like an opal. We're a long way from hyacinths up here, unless of course we force them indoors. Maybe by May...

You are a little further along than we are. We seemed to be in limbo for the longest time. Now things are slowly proceeding. It looks like we might have both blooms and leaves on our cherry trees this year.

I wonder if you have the same saying as us on this side of the pond - 'April showers bring May flowers' :)

Jodi: My you do have a long wait for your hyacinths to bloom. They will be worth the wait though.

Cathy and Cindee: Oh, they smell so good! Much better than the forced ones.

Jen: Oh good. Glad to hear you may get some blooms on your cherry trees. Here is hoping that they will be able to bear fruit and not get ruined.

WormsandFlowers:I can not make up my mind whether they are Purple or Blue.Sometimes in the world of flowers what I call purple others call blue :) Thanks for drooping by.

Anna: Yes we do have that saying here to. They saying I am trying to get away from this spring is the three more snows after the forsythia blooms. It is blooming like crazy now. Thanks for dropping by.

Very, very pretty Lona. I couldn't agree with you more ~ warm days spoil us, don't they? It was so much harder to go back to snow after 70 degrees!

So nice to see aren't they?

Thats a really pretty color on the hyacinths, the perfect cross between lavender and blue. I know we needed the rain, but I'm ready for sunshine again. I'm just glad that the snows around the country passed us by! Yesterday was a little chilly, but much better than snow.

I meant to tell you that the black butterflies you saw were probably mourning cloaks, not swallowtails. Mourning cloaks overwinter here as adults, and are usually the first to be seen come spring. Tell them to stop by my house and saw hello!

I am glad to see someone had some hyacinths bloom! I had one about to bloom until the rain/wind knocked down a huge oak branch on the little bud! Your photos of the blooms are great...I almost thought I could smell them for a second!

Lanny: I really enjoyed your tour of the farm so far. You look as rain soaked as we are.

Kathleen: I sure hope we do not get the snow you got last week. I am so tired of winter.

Darla: So nice to see flowers and not bad to smell either :)

Robin: I am so glad that snow missed us to. You are right about the Black butterfly. I know as much about them as I do birds, which is not much at all :)

DirtPrincess: Bummer! How dare that old oak branch squash your hyacinth. It was cold and windy here yesterday but the hyacinths survived it.
