What a beautiful weekend we had here. Finally! Yes!
The weather has warmed up and we are getting some sun now and not only is the garden loving it so is this gardener.
I hope all of you Momma’s had a wonderful Mother’s Day.
My Saturday was spent with my daughter as we visited garden centers and had lunch. A gardeners perfect day.
I managed also to get flowers for a planter for my Mom which I filled for Mother’s Day.
Also picked out two new plants for Mother’s Day, a yellow Lantana and a Black Heart potato vine which I hope to get potted up this week. I love Lantana for the butterflies and bees.
We saw these bears in Mallards while getting some edging stone. I had to laugh at the squashed gnome on the bottom of the bear’s paw with a sigh that said “ Wipe Your Paws”.
There are plants growing in the little greenhouse that are flourishing and wanting to get potted up.
And in the garden the Ajuga ‘Burgundy Glow’ is spreading out now in its home along the walkway.
The Weigela ‘Florida’ has gotten buds since a week ago.
This is going to be the little bush’s first blooms so I am excited.
The ‘Purple Sensation’ alliums are in full bloom now and look so pretty along the side bed.
The Dames Rockets wild phlox are starting to bloom.

I love phlox in the garden and have several but these wild ones are early bloomers.
And now I have a question for you gardeners of wildflowers…..
Have any of you seen a pink Trillium?
While walking last week at a local woodland park in a patch of Great White Trillium was this lone pink trillium.
I looked it over to see if it was a Painted trillium but it does not have the markings and it is not a purple one because the leaves are all wrong. Some of you may know its name but I have never saw a pink one. It was a beautiful in amongst the white blooming ones.
Update: Thank you all for telling me the reason for the pink Trillium is that it turns pink as the bloom ages.
This is suppose to be a beautifully warm week so I plan to spend time outdoors as much as I can, as I suspect you all will too, so…..

You have some great things going on there. Your alliums look great and I really like that foam flower. Nice day today but I'm getting ready to go mow since rain is expected for days again.

The bear is so cute... he stepped on a gnome. Queen of the Night is beautiful. Candytuft and bleeding hearts look nice together. Hope you're having a nice day Lona.

I laughed at the squashed gnome too! I won't let Dave or Pudder know what I was laughing at though .. they would be insulted .. Dave has his own problems with his cracked mushroom anyways ? haha
Your garden is springing forth at great speed girl ! I love my polemonium too .. the blend of pinks, green and white is gorgeous let alone when the flowers start to bloom .. I have Pink Skyrocket Tiarella and it has a way to go yet before it will bloom but it does look so pretty when it smiles : )
The pink trillium .. I know they are offered at some mail order companies but I haven't seen one in a natural setting yet .. so maybe that was an off chance happening ?

Everything looks just beautiful, Lona. I'm anxiously anticipating the allium bulbs -- I think I'm growing the same kind you are. And, I love that squished garden gnome. Too cute...
I forgot about Dame's Rocket, had some in a mix in my Virginia garden. Need to look into getting some for here, yours sure are pretty. Glad you had a nice Mother's Day.

Cute bear! Love that foam flower! That's going on my list for next year. Love your alliums. Wish mine had come up. Maybe next year - like your tulips.

Spring is looking great your way! Someone had a funny idea with that bear with the gnome to wipe off its foot. I enjoyed scrolling down and seeing the blooms in your other posts, too, and am now going to check that site to see if my photos are there. I quit making collages on Photobucket, because when I go there, a whole bunch of my photos automatically get taken up to it. I don't like that.
It looks like you are a couple of weeks ahead of us. I have the same hosta and I can't remember its name either. jim
Hi Lona, The trillium in the pictures looks like Trillium grandiflorum, the white flowers can turn pinkish with age. Also Trillium cernuum has white to pinkish flowers that hang down. Hope this helps.
Trilliums will often turn pink as they age.
Your spring beauties look wonderful. The Dame's Rocket looks so sweet.
More beauties Lona, you have convinced me to plant some 'Queen of the Night' tulips this fall. I think you grew some of the new pink/green tulips last year, were they 'pretty much picasso' or something else? I remember seeing their ads when they came out...
I am trying Dame's Rocket this year from seed. Not much luck yet... Any tips????
YESSSS!!! Spring finally found Ohio! I think you're ahead of us down there. The tulips are coming into their own, along with the flowering trees. Loved the gnome on the bear paw!
Happy late Mother's Day! Sounds like it was a good one! We also did garden related things. Our weather is still pretty yucky, still well below normal temps and it's rained all day. I'm hoping that all my seedlings inside will finally get a chance to see the real sun and not just grow lights :)
Your garden is looking beautiful! Our ornamental strawberry sometimes produces little strawberries and they are very sweet.
Lona, you have a fantasy flower land there, how pretty. And the shopping expedition to greenhouses is a perfect Mother's Day for any gardener!
Love the trilliums, I had to move some of mine and it looks like they're happy in their new home in the hosta bed.

Sounds like the perfect Mother's Day to me Lona. I wanted to visit the greenhouse but when I drove by, it was so packed, I opted to go back another day. I am not a fan of crowds especially when I'm out to do something I so enjoy. Hopefully, everything won't be picked over when I do get a chance to go back.
You have lots happening in your garden. My alliums are just starting to open and now I wish I had even more of them. You know what I'll be adding this fall!

Hasn't this weather been heavenly? Hot, sticky, and wonderful! If you love it as much as I do, then whatever you do, don't look at next weeks forcast! I have been a planting fool the past few weeks. I decided that long, cold winters make me buy way more flowers afterwards! I'm cramming them into every inch of space I have.
