Touches Of Autumn All Around

Time sure flies when you are having fun or just getting older.
The sun finally broke through Wednesday morning.

Sunrise_Fog2_2011
It had a rough time getting through all of the fog in the area.  The first golden rays sifting through  cheered us right up with the promise of a wonderful week and weekend ahead.

My daughter and I made a trip to Columbus Thursday and dropped by the Franklin Park Conservatory after her appointments.
It was such a beautiful sunny day that we really enjoyed walking around the grounds to see what was in the trial gardens this year and what was blooming in other areas of the Park.

The first touches of Autumn were showing in some of the trees there with beautiful oranges and reds.

Here in the garden I got some Pansies planted in the pathetic window boxes and some more plants moved and planted.
I added a couple of Feverfew plants that I have always admired on other gardening blogs and a Crimson Bouquet rose cutting that I finally got to start for me this summer. A new Buddleia “Nanho” purple that my friend Joy @ Canadian Garden Joy had recommended.
I have tried growing two other Buddleia and both died so I am really hoping this one will not end up the same compost pile.
I also had to replant another of the new Irises because of those pesky squirrels and the deer munched off the new blooms on the Dizzy lilies. I had stopped spraying with deer repellent after the rest of the lilies had finished blooming so it was my fault they had a good snack of them.

White is not really a Autumn color maybe but I have a fondness for white blooms in the garden.

The Mums in containers are in full bloom now.

And a few that I have in the garden beds are starting to open their blooms adding some Autumn color to the garden.

The chipmunks and squirrels are feeding and storing nuts on the oak and hickory trees around in the woods.

The roses are still putting on blooms in the rose bed and I am enjoying them while they last.

I got some manure spread around them yesterday and some bone meal scattered around the irises, lilies and other bulb planted areas.

This weekend is the Sauerkraut Festival at Waynesville, Ohio. My daughter and I are going to attended and fight the crowds again. It is always a popular festival not only for the great eating but all of the crafts for sale. Waynesville is famous for its many antique shops as well.
With a warm and sunny weekend forecasted it will make for a beautiful weekend for the festival.

Adorable chipmunk! That pink rose has the most beautiful coloring. I love how it glows in the middle. Have a great time at the festival! Fall is such a wonderful time to get out and about.

Lona girl you are so sweet for mentioning my recommendation !
I will be holding my breath (all winter till Spring .. now that is a miracle eh ? LOL) to see if it will work out for you .. other wise I will be totally red faced ? LOL ..
You have absolutely gorgeous pictures here girl .. the golden fog is awesome! And you have colour change in the leaves way ahead of us .. we need a few more COLD nights .. we are behind from last year .. this weekend we have our Canadian Thanksgiving .. so I have a turkey defrosting and pumpkin pie smiling at us ? haha

You know I love to see those Autumn leaves! Loved the sunrise photos too. I can imagine just how cheerful a sight that must have been for you. Your Mums are so sweet ... love the colours ... and your Roses are doing a great job of blooming. Enjoy that sauerkraut!

Your opening photos are gorgeous Lona. We were mired in a lot of rain this week, and had some thick fog this morning too, but not nearly as beautiful as yours that's backlit by the sun. I know we're fortunate to live in a mild weather climate here, but I really miss the spectacular colors of fall. The leaves are just gorgeous.

I love images taken in fog. Your first two shots are beautiful. We had heavy fog the other day, but not in my immediate area. I was so keen on getting good fog photos at the falls, but we were like the only place not to have fog.

You know Lona, I really do like sauerkraut! I tried very hard this fall to find my favorite white mum Helga. It seems to have disappeared. The roses are so wonderful in the garden this time of year.

Hi Lona, those are very beautiful colors, both the autumn leaves and the flowers. Did you yourself train that chrysanthemum to have that spray type? It is so beautiful. That Eupatorium is something which we just saw in our marginal lands lately, and they are so invasive and difficult to control. Maybe it came here unintentionally, I personally don't like them here. But in your case they look beautiful. Maybe it should have been better if it stayed in cold climes.

Your blooms are wonderful. The photo of the Chipmunk is cute, but we know how destructive they can be. Hope you are enjoying the festival.

I am reading this and the birds are chirping outside my window. It kind of feels like I am there wandering around the park with you. Camera in hand, the sun, and the birds....

Beautiful shots.
