Alrighty Then

Okay, I got nothing......
Today is Fertilizer Friday sponsored by our great hostess
from Tootsie Time and for those of you who still have
flowers, of whom I am very jealous of, it is time to "Flaunt
Your Flowers" before it is too late.

A couple of days this week when the sun was shining
so bright was spent in the final clean up. That is it I
have had it with the mulching of leaves and cleaning off
the beds. I refuse to mow another leaf! For pity sakes I
live near a State Forest I am tired of leaves. They are no
longer gorgeous or decked in colors, but a yucky old brown
piles upon the ground.
You all know I am fibbing don't ya? ;-)
The oak leaves will find a way to my front porch
and into the little pond. They just lay in wait for a
good wind upon this hill to come sailing in.
Oh well, leaves will happen.

Now lets see what I have found with some
little color around here.

Of course the Purple Carpet Alyssum is still going.
Is everyone tired of seeing it?
I surely am but hey I am desperate here.

And this little sprig of blue Lobelia has a few blooms.
All the others are done and pulled up.

And surprise ! I found this pink mum in with my
burgundy one. Just don't ask me where it came from.
Maybe it is a Clara Curtis that slipped in when I wasn't
looking. It is a pretty little bloom though.

I found two old petunia blooms. You can tell their old by the
cobwebs. Well maybe not, it may be a spider web.
Can you tell I have gone from nostalgia to silly this week?

This little beauty is still blooming and the bees
are still taking advantage of them in the sun.

But even the mums now are looking like their
end is coming near. Poor sad looking bloom.

And this is the Nikko Hydrangea that waited too
late to finally set on a bloom. All my hydrangeas this
summer were a disappointment of no blooms at all.

Sadly enough it does look pretty against the burgundy
of its Fall leaves.

The Streptocarpus Roulett Red and Inkspot got their
new pots this week and are doing well.

And then there is the tale of the Amaryllis on steroids.

This Cocktail amaryllis took off full speed ahead.
This picture was taken a few days ago so it is even
bigger now.
I was going to stagger the setting of the bulbs so
that they would bloom at different times, but
since I have not tried them before I thought what
the heck do it now.I do not think I had anything
to fear about their blooming all at once.....

because the Picotee and Ragtime are just starting
to grow. Maybe the Cocktail amaryllis just takes
less time to start. Do you amaryllis growers
know or the plant tag might be my first move.

The foxgloves are growing very nicely and should
give me some pretty blooms next summer.
Tatyana I hope the seeds you gave me does as good.
The pressure is on girl.

To all of the Dirt Princess Seed Swap Gang the seeds are in
the mail!!

Well that's it. All she wrote. No more.
Nada, I am done. ;-)

Happy FF Everyone
& Have A Great Weekend!

November Muse

November

"November comes
And November goes,
With the last red berries
And the first white snows.

With night coming early,
And dawn coming late,
And ice in the bucket
And frost by the gate.

The fires burn
And the kettles sing,
And earth sinks to rest
Until next spring."

Mums the Word

Hey gang I got the housework all done and cleaned
today. Yeah, it is raining straight down ;-)
The leaves are falling with it and there is now showers of
yellow leaves falling in the back yard. The rain will bring
down what was left of the pretty leaves and only the old
brown oak leaves will remain, and remain, and remain.
They just last and blow around forever.

Since it is time to Flaunt those Flowers I thought
I would share some of the Mums that are around the
yard. I hope you all are not tired of pictures of Mums yet.
I have saw such pretty ones on blogs over the last few weeks,
and some were flat out gorgeous. I for one never get tired
of seeing beautiful flowers. In fact I would say I never met
a flower I didn't like but that would be an error, there are
one or two. Paper Whites forced indoors.Sorry I hate the
smell of them indoors and although I like some of the
newer Marigolds I cannot tolerate the fragrance of them.
They are suppose to be good for keeping pests from
gardens though.

These pictures were taken this week when the sun
decided to pay us a visit and we did get a little warm up.

The blooms were loaded with this green metallic looking
bees or bugs of some kind. I do not remember seeing them
before but they have a pretty color to them.

This Mum was one of the ones that were grown
from seed a year ago.

They were even on this Becky Shasta Daisy bloom. They
sure were busy little things that day. Maybe they were
storing up.

This is another one grown from seed.

I could not help but snap a picture of this Mourning
Dove with all of the color for its backdrop.

Today is Fertilizer Friday so join us with the hostess
Tootsie over at Tootsie Time and Flaunt Those Flowers!

Happy Gardening Everyone and
Have A Great Weekend!

What Gardeners Do When it Rains

They blog and talk about flowers,
look at other gardeners flowers,
and plan what to do outdoors when the rain stops.
I am not going to complain because we were
really needing the rain in this part of the
Buckeye state.
The rain has not slowed down the
traffic on
the highway out front with people going
to the Arts and Crafts Show at Old Man's Cave.
Since I did not want to melt I opted to
stay home this year. No, I am an old salty
and not sweet and sugary ;-)

I missed Fertilizer Friday, Sorry Tootsie!
But I did get some pictures of some of the
flowers that are still trying to put out some

blooms and of some of the Fall decor that
I have stuck on the front porch.

The mums are starting to bloom. They
spent the winter in the basement and were
pinched back longer than they should have maybe,

but they will last longer for fall blooming. I pinch
them back until the last of July.

Look who is coming back now that the days
have grown shorter cooler.

Not exactly a fall pansy and though I would love
some that look more like Fall I may have really
blown all of my pin money for flowers for the year.

This will likely be the last echinacea for this summer.
Poor thing looks so forlorn and lonely all by itself.

This Clustered purple Bellflower decided to surprise
me with a single new bloom.

Another Stock plant finally decided to bloom.
I do not think I will be trying to grow Stock

ever again. Who knew it took months to bloom.
I know everyone except Robin and myself.

See the pretty purple potato vine in the wagon
my Dad made me? Now picture it with just a
whole lot of stems and no leaves.
Yep, the deers like sweet potatoes too.

I am still loving this free morning glory that
the birds or wind sent to the garden.
Free is a good thing.

Stella d' Oro has been spluttering around
and putting on a few blooms to let me know
she is a trooper in the garden.

The Iboza vine in this old coal bucket keeps
trying to spread her vines. I have pinched it
back all summer and have started some new
vines from it to try to over winter.

Remember the stray cat that grew three kittens
in the flower bed. Well sadly something has
happened to the yellow one. The ornery black one
has taken over my potting bench just like momma.

And the gray one thinks Mom makes a good
pillow while hanging onto the back of the chair.

I am more of a dog person but these old strays
know how to get around me.
Now when I look out the back door in the mornings
not one old cat is waiting and staring back at me
but one old cat and four little eyes are watching
for me. What is that mother teaching them.
Who me, an old softy ? Oh, well what can I say.
